I've been wondering where that comes from... I know its louder if i push the defroster for the rear window. And my friend always comments my car is th ebomb yada yada and it sounds like a jet.
I just told him. yep its my lil space ship. hehehe..
yea so where does that come from? and i don't hear it all the time.

I just posted asking about that noise !!!! i was wondering if i got a special edition celice LOL just kidding. I LOVE THAT SOUND ... does it start at 5000 rpms for ya like it does for me?

it sounds like a jet engine winding down when i brake.... like u know how the jet engine shuts off but its a gradual shut off and its like wwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww .... hehe. i get that.. its so cool......

Uhm, sorry to break it to you guys my my Dodge Ram Cargo Van does the same thing... Nothing special, I've also heard that sound in MiniVans, etc...
dont believe i've ever heard this sound, what are you guys talking about?

hehe... listen closely when u brake..... its on my car anyway (gt auto) maybe its something else...... it sounds like a jet's landing. cant explain it.... just sounds like a jet. next time u drive, concentrate, maybe u'll see waht we talking about.....

Sorry, just had to say that :) You guys never heard it? It's like this whiny sound I guess... Like they said,when an Airplane lands, you can here the Turbo's whinding down and makes this high pitched whiny sound... It's even louder for me when the weather is really, really, cold...

I know what you're talking about. It's like phewwwwwwwwwwuuuuu when you hit the brake and gradually slow. My lady friend pointed it out to me.

I hear it all the time. It's like a winding sound. If you down shift and engine break you can really hear it. I can also hear it when I'm accelerating all the way up to 6000, when I can't hear anything but the CAI and TRD exhaust. I have been worried by this sound but learned to live with it especially now that I know I'm not the only one hearing the sound.

i get that too. if it's only autos getting it, i bet it's the transmission. sounds like a torque converter whine. and since the torque converter IS a turbine of sorts...yeah, it's like a mini jet engine sound :D ;)
No .... i got a 6 spd ... and when i rev to 5000 + its like WERRRRRRRRRRRRRR SSSSSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT

I hear it sometimes too, but it is still nothing like a turbo whine.

if you wanna hear a really really cool sound (gets annoying though) ground your aftermarket stereo equip to a diff place from the stock wiring and run the rca's next to your power wire... you'll get an alternator whine that's matched to the engines revs... its a really cool sound...THAT sounds like a jet unwinding

My old Dastun was like that if I put it on AM. I could change to a different static filled station to get a different sound that changed with the revs. I got the rice sound before it was popular on Hondas :D

are you guys talking about the whistle that increases/decreases as your accell, prevelent in higher rpms? That is from the airbox/intake. A very light "turbine" whine sound.... My friends type-R does the same exact thing... Typical of alot of newer cars...
