Hmmmm there might be something to that. Let's see what kinds of problems I've had. Blown front strut, Bad rear wheel bearing, Tons of rattles, foggy headlights, and a bad water leak from a weld not even being completed from the factory. Ahhhhh maybe it is true.

Long but horrible story:
Hell yea, red IS a curse. Its a long story, but it all started when I had my brought over from a dealer 250 miles away. First of all the idiots did not cover the car on the way here so I had a TON of rock chips. Then when they pulled the car of the trailer I saw my car get dropped out and the front bumper was scraped really bad as it was being taken off the truck. So, I told the manager and he said that he would repair the damage to the front bumper and the rock chip.
Well the car went to the body shop two day after I bought. The body shop took ten days to fix!! When I got it back there was over spray on the whole engine bay and the radiator was completely red!! They took it back and re-did it, but they did not prep the bumper properly and the paint stared chipping off (they tried to blame me for using a high pressure washer).
I told them I was going to take it to my own guys (which I though was a really good and really expensive auto body repair shop) When I took it home after 3 nights my passengers side window was shoot out with a bb gun. Then two week later at the movie theater some one stole my sunroof and the process damaged the roof and pillars beyond repair. So, I took the car in to get it fixed for both the front bumper paint pealing off and for the vandalism and sunroof theft at the same time. Well, the **** **** had my car for 5 months waiting for parts and everything else to get it fixed. So for the first six months of my owning my car I only got to drive it for a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

here are all my problems.......
bought the celica in late february 2000
everything seemed to be going really well for the celica. I got many complements on it and it seemed like everyone wanted to go for a ride in it !!
i ordered all my TRD parts from the dealer i bought it from
got myself the wind, sides, front lip, rear valance, susp. and exhaust.
ever since those mods the car has been nothing but a big headache !!
the car is a target in my area, i never feel comfortable parking it anywhere. i've had some of the redneck imbreds spit their chew on it. i get jealous idiots throwing change and **** at it while i drive by (not cruizin) people in my area just have no respect for anything of anyones
now for the problems -
front lip spoiler flew off going down the freeway
replaced from toyota just to have it destroyed again (let brother drive and he put it in first instead of reverse - smacked into 12" curb)
blew out tire on freeway twice in one week (never figured out why - nearly new tires)
celica got keyed twice then after (repainted)
alternator when tits up (stress from stereo)
engine blew.... toyota replaced
less than two weeks later the tranny went out
broken into, stereo, rims stolen
2 months later i got the celica back
had the car for 3 weeks and now my lates ordeal.......
Got Friggin' Smashed by a GMC !!!
all of this and its been right near two years......... wish me luck once i get it back again

Ok, here goes...
1) Freak accident: got hit by a golf ball while passing by a golf course! Had to have the hood completely refinished. The golfer paid for it in the in the long run after my insurance company hunted him down ~$600 (I think).
2) Synchros: I have had the synchros on every gear, except for 6th, replaced...Twice! (I think 2nd gear was also replaced) Thing is, I think they are gonna need done again. Never had this sort of problem with any other stick I EVER owned.
3) Injectors: Had the all injectors replaced due to a CEL. I thought this was a bit strange personally, but I wasn't complaining
4) ECU: Had the ECU replaced with the same CEL incident! I was a bit nervous the they would put the 02 ECU in, but I still have fuel cut @ 8400.
5) Minor accident: Had to have the front bumper replaced, and the driver's side head light assembly replaced, but no structural dammage. (Accident happened at ~3 MPH, the fog lights even survived, so I have no idea how the headlight mount broke...)
6) Belts: I had all the belts replaced, even the belt tensioner, and they still make all kinds of noise, especially at start up. Here's a little tidbit, they had to take the engine off 1 or 2 of it's mounts to change the tensioner, I waited ~2.5 hours for squeeking belts (I havent put my crank pulley on yet...)
7) Paint: Not to mention all the damn rock chips on the hood (I have one that is more than 1/8 inch in diameter, happened right after the hood was repainted...hard to cover that with touch up paint), but chips are starting to appear elsewhere, even in the middle of the doors!?!
That about sums it up, guess the curse is on my poor red celica too :-(

Crashed my car like a month or so after I got it, my own fault, just wasn't watching a smashed into the back of another car coming up to a light.
Car was fixed, needed a new hood, which was painted...crappy job IMO b/c like 2 months later I had 10 or more paint chips from rocks...i'm like this can't be normal, so i took it back again and told them to do it free of charge, no only one paint chip in like the last 1/2 yr.
Just skidded into a curb like a month ago and bento up my suspension, steering wheel is now a little (like 20 degrees) slanted to the left when i am driving straight, and this is after i got the parts fixed, and an alignment...hmmmm, not pleased that it isn't back to normal...
Car either got keyed or just banged by another person's door and left a gouge that went down to my primer
Millions of speeding tickets, a ticket for street racing, a ticket for reckless driving, etc...still have my license so thats a plus...
Guess my red celi hasn't treated me that badly, been moslty my own stupididy, i'm working on that issue currently, best of luck to the red celi owners!
