View Full Version : There's a hole in my intake!

That pretty much sums it up... I have a 2000 GT Celi. with an
Injen short ram intake that I had installed in July of this year.
I bought it @ VIS & had it installed @ Premier (better price cause
they installed my GC's) The hole is about the size of a quarter &
is on the bottom side of the tube right after it curves above a bracket that holds it. (sorry, not mechanically inclined) I have my stock air box in my car ready to be put back on.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this a manufacturer defect?
I'm debating if I should have them put in a new intake or just leave in my stock box to avoid future problems??
Is there a write up on how to install/uninstall the stock air box
so I can take it with me when I have this done?
Any suggestions/comments/help with my dilema are appreciated.

Thanks

did something break it, or something rub up against it or something.. it shouldnt just develop a hole, especially ofthat size..

It looks like the bracket it was sitting on made the hole because its almost the same size. Maybe it was from all the bouncing & probably rubbing of the intake plus the heat onto the bracket that made it bust.

I had the same problem. When they mounted the bracket, it was not bolted down with the vibra mount. This enables to intake to move around when the engine torque moves the engine...When the engine moved, the intake was more then likly bolted to the frame of the car without the vibra mount and *snap*..ripped the bracked off and all the metal it was attached to.

So what did you end up doing?
Did you get your money back or a new intake?
I'm hoping that they give me my money back. I don't know
if they will or not cause I didn't get it installed there I just bought
it there. They might try to pull a fast one & say since they didn't
install it they can't give me my money cause the other shop messed up the install. That would be really jacked up...
(I'm trying to plot a good reason B4 I call them)...
