The same organization that awarded the 2zz with Best 1.4-litre to 1.8-litre Engine in 2002 (http://www.ukintpress.com/engineoftheyear/previouswin.html) has named the RX8's engine the International Engine of the Year for 2003 (http://www.ukintpress.com/engineoftheyear/ieoty.html). Kinda surprising, considering the bad PR Mazda has gotten lately for overrating the Renesis' horsepower output.

it was awarded this long before the hp output problem was talked about...

which makes u think how that organization gives out these prizes....

do they even test the engines? or just..... if it looks good on paper.....

(also... i remember the jap spec version not having this output problem)

how can you not get the award when you're the only one competing? :chuckles: no, but really, are there any other rotaries in that same class?

Its a good engine, but there is much better engines out there. I also feel as though the whole Mazda misleading there customers thing is not good.

That's quite interesting. I don't think that's going to affect it's whopping 15mpg though.

Yeah, I was wondering whether this is a respected, prestigious award or if it's one of those awards that can be bought, if the company is big enough. Kinda tarnishes the award that the 2zz got from them last year.

I was thinking the same thing.
