best place to mount EGT probe?

hahahaha yeah mount on exhaust manifold.
You can do it either of 2 ways right on hottest cylinder which is usually the cylinder which is on the end of fuel rail (but to get more accurate numbers get it measured). Or come together of the 4 pipes to get a average readings. I prefer the hottest cylinder which is leanest in fuel, have it there gets better warnings.

Mount in your downpipe if you have one to see what your actual exhaust temps are after it leaves the motor.

so i would want to mount it in the collector? also, the hottest cylinder would most likely be the one farthest from the TB on the celica right?

We just had this disucssion and mounting it in the collector is apparently a bad idea because its not an accurate reading of exactly how how it is. You want to mount it in the runner that has the hottest EGT temps but unfortuantely I dont think anyone knows what runner that is yet.

Yes, we just finished discussing this! Which is also why I'd suggest looking back at the older post.

Are you FI'd? I definitely wouldn't suggest mounting it in your DP. If you're not running FI then I don't really see what's the point.
