i have been wanting to get a gts for a while now, but just today the thought of a 6 speed tiburon v6 came to my head. its just a thought but i want to get everyones opinion, what would you get?

also, what do you think would be faster, i know the celica has like 10 more hp but the tiburon has about 40 more tourque.

gts is faster than a tiburon. and is also better quality. But i have to admit, I have yet to see any bad reliability stories about new tibbies Vs GT-S's

I've got both, an 03 Tib GT and a 00 GTS and I must say the GTS is more fun to drive. I like the interior in both, but the GTS feels more wrapped around you than the Tib, and the exterior look I prefer the GTS just slightly over the Tib. The Tib feels stronger off the line but over all they are about the same. I like the way the GTS handles better, but the Tib handles great as well. I think they are both nice cars and you can't go wrong with either one as long as you get the 6 speed in which ever one you get.

The GT-s is faster and being lighter probably more fun to drive (never driven a tib.) Reliablility is a toss up from the problems I've seen here but the tib has a better warranty if your keeping the car stock. The Tib will feel faster around town with the extra torque and won't have to be driven as hard to get fun out of it but again it is slower. That said I would get the GT-S over the tibby.

My gf just got the tibby tuscani here in canada and I have the GTS and the GTS is much better the only thing the tibby has it lowend torque.

the tib has a lower price tag but i rather have the gts - so far there's nothing wrong with my friend's tib

I was thinking of a tib over a gt-s, but after browsing thru the tib forums, looks like they alot of problems with reliability.

its a salad toss, the new tibs are great cars and hyundia got it right this time, and for the price...cant go wrong, but the celica is sick too.

and you also need to consider resale value when buying a hyunday. Both cars respond good to mods from what i hear, but then its your choice.

Resale value of a Tib in 2 years is going to be jack shit. I would take the GT-S 6spd anyday.

That's like asking should I buy a hyundai accent or a honda civic. You should know better than that. :)

The GT-S was built with performance in mind. The tiburon was thrown together with whatever they already had (engine from their SUV, styling cues from a mustang, ferrari, etc....).

I'm sorry, but until I see hyundai in F1, I will continue to see hyundai as knowing nothing about engineering high performance cars. Toyota has been in the game for a long time.

The tibouron look sexier, but the celica has way more potential. Comon my homey ran a 14.1 with bolt ons, and i heard of a guy who has every bolt on on his tibouron, and a 50 shot as well and he only ran 13.8...wow!! impressive (rolls eyes)

Celica all the way

agreed. tib sux. hyundai is getting better, but resale value is crap. not only that but the gts is actually faster due to the power/weight ratio (last i checked into it). can't go wrong with toyota. always been reliable to our family and we have 3.

Tiburon Vert Hardtop has my vote. Torque is fun :D

If you're worried about resale value after your purchase you don't buy new.

I dont even own a celica and i can tell you for sure that it is faster. Althought both interiors are nice, the gt-s leather is better. Not to mention the celica just looks better... i mean it doesnt look like a shark. =P

just kinda curious, someone should go to the tib forums and ask the same question, Im kinda curious of the results.

I'll take care that. :) I have a tib gt 6 speed v6 and when I bought it i was also looking at the celica GTS. I ended up with the tib cause for 4500 bucks less I got all the same options as on the GTS. Plus, the extra torque is nice for getting you off the line quicker. Dont think the tib is as fast as the GTS? Maybe not, but take the 4500 bucks you save and either put the alpine Supercharger on it, or hell just install a CAI and exhaust, then you will be right up there with the GTS. CAI was dynoed at around 15 HP increase, and so was the exhaust. I say get the tib, but maybe I am biased also. As far as reliability, I have had my tib 1.5 years and the only thing ive had done is a recall on the sunroof motor. Other than that, nothing wrong.
