I was wondering if it's possible to take the microphone out on a laptop and running that to a cd player to play the sound off the laptop onto the car stereo. If it is what does the cd player need and what type of hookup do i need between the two? Thanks :)

your best (and easiest) bet would be to get a FM modulator (probably around 20-30 bucks.
What it does is plug in between your antenna and stereo. All you do is tune your radio to the set station on the modulator and hit play, (obviously after you plug the 1/8" laptop jack to the RCA's in the FM modulator) and sound comes right out...
It may need
+12v constant
+12v accessory
-12v ground
to power it.
Sound quality is adequate, not the best, so a car w/a system would notice the sound degredation

If your deck has RCA Audio inputs this is trivial, just get a mini-stereo to RCA adapter.
Also, some of the high end JVC decks have mini-stereo input right on the fron of the deck.
This can even be done with the stock Celica deck. There's an adapter out that adds AUX input to the stock deck (Blitsafe makes it I think).

That Deck probably does have RCA inputs for a CD changer. What you need to do is "fool" it into thinking you have a CD changer. Sony sells an adapter called the XA-104 Source Selector (there may be a newer model). You hook the XA-104 up to the deck and run mini-stereo to RCA plugs to the XA-104 and you should be set.

unfortunately w/sony's that have cd changer control, you need to activate the input w/a unilink cable, you can buy a unilink box for like $100 and add 3 inputs
