Ok i ripped apart my TA03 to get rid of that god aweful noise. My deck preamp puts out 4.0V/100 ohms. I used 68 Ohm resistors for now, but there is still some noise that is audible even over cabin noise. What size would be best to get rid of the noise. Not to mention when i first powered the deck up i got a hell of a lot of bass with very little highs.

If the output impedance of your HU's HV preamp output is 100 ohms then pick a terminating resistor whose value is 100 ohms or higher. Try not going below the rated impedance value of your preamp or you risk losing signal level (volume) and possibly throwing your frequency response curve off (all bass & no highs). You should be able to go as high as 600 ohms to 1K (1000 ohms) without risking picking up any noise.

You can use 1/8 watt 5% tolerance carbon-film resistors which you can pickup from any electronics parts house or even Radio Shack. If you need help with reading resistor color codes go here: http://www.compworks.faithweb.com/electronics/components/resistor101.html

Remember: don't tie the ends of the 4-resistors to the pin marked "DIGITAL GND"! There's all kinds of digital crap floating on that ground. And for godsakes don't tie all the grounds together either...

It's real important you tie the 4-resistors to the pin on the TA-03 connector marked "ANALOG GND" in the mod pics. SCOSCHE provides a real nice heavy-duty black pigtail wire on that pin with nowhere to go, so slide some heatshrink over it and slide it back so it doesn't shrink while you're soldering it, then wrap it around the ends of the 4-resistors & solder it. Now slide the shrink back over the solder joint and heat it with a heat gun.

Analog grounds and Digital grounds are kept separate for a good reason: there's switching spikes on the digital ground buss created by the microprocessors in our ECU's. And at different points throughout the car the Digital ground is tied to the chassis (frame). Guess what? So is the alternator, the cabin dimmer, power windows, cabin blower & windshield wiper motors!

good luck
