just out of curiousity....do you guys like these things just because they are toyotas?
i mean i know that everyone has their own opinions but for god's sake they are hideous....i would drive a Honda Element or possible even an Aztec over these.
no offense to anyone here but i thought toyota did bad enough w/ the design of the Echo
just my .02

I would buy an xB just for daily driving; no modifications. They're relatively cheap in price and the fact that the car is made by Toyota puts me at ease in terms of reliability.

imo these are way better looking then a plasticy element or ugly a$$tek. I think those are 2 of the most hidious newer cars on the road.
These have more of a sporty look with the ability to uprgrade while still being practical.

Believe it or not, these things are selling extremely well. Toyota's target buyer is the y gen, but the average age of buyers is 33!

Look at the way styling has gone over the last two decades. In the early 80's everything was a box. By the late 80's a few rounded cars were out, and lines began to taper a bit. The early 90's, there were more and more smoother cars coming out, and by about 94 to 95 we started to see the arrival of the Jellybean look. Compare gen 1 DSM to Gen 2. Look at the Camry from 93 to 97. Very soft edges. By late 90's we started to see the return of edges in cars like the Camry, Celica, Accord, etc etc. Now, in early 2000's, we have the box coming back. It will cycle again. It always does.

Yeah, I read somewhere several years ago that Toyota started the whole completely rounded car thing with the 5th generation Celica because they knew Korean manufactures would not be able to quickly react and match this move but would have to retool their factories for complex curves, playing catch up for a while.
Not sure how much truth is in that but it wasn't until 7 years later that Hyundai brought out the Tiburon with lines as smooth as the Celica.

And look at the new Tib? It's gone back to the sharp edge look.
Actually, I believe the exterior was designed by the same guy who did the Ferrari 550. Well, anyway, they look really good in black.
