same here bro. before i got my celica i never worked on a car. it took me 3 times to figure out how to install my intake (i was afraid and didnt know if i could pull out my ECU tube). but once you pull out the stock box, the rest is a piece of cake! for real!
but now i do all my own work on my car. tomorrow im getting up early to meet my friend to start replacing his clutch on his eclipse. we've never done it before, we dont have a lift, and its gonna take all day if not longer. im the type who wants to learn more about my car. i dont know if you are that type but to learn more, the only way to learn is hands on. just my $.02

Oooooh clutch installs are a lot of fun!!! :dripping with sarcasm:
We did mine when I blew my motor in the Probe and when I blew the Mustang up... It's much easier when you are doing the whole motor swap too hahaha.
Imports are by far much harder! Good luck, have tons of fun. If you get drunk enough it won't be so bad, just might take even longer....
I'd love to see his car again! It's really nice. Seriously though hope it goes well. :)

Oh yea and not sure how the Eclipses are, but make SURE you keep everything really clean wipe everything off with really clean towels as you are putting it back together... be very careful of any little metal shavings or what not!!!!!

talk about a PAIN IN THE AS$ DAY!!! oh man. we started at 10:30am. lifted up all 4 corners of the car maybe a foot, foot and a half off the ground. we had to tear the whole passenger side under the hood apart. take out motor mounts, tear out all the intercooler piping, ALL of the suspension, brakes, the axles, then drop the motor and tranny with 2 seperate jacks and work that way. by 5:30pm we finally thought we were getting somewhere and we opened up the wrong part of the transmission (we didnt open up the bell housing, we opened up the part where all the gears are.. cant think of the proper term right now. brain fart and im wicked pissed). so we ended up getting the tranny amazingly and magically out of the car by the hands of the 3 of us. resealed the part we opened up, put on the new flywheel, act clutch, pressure plate, clutch fork, and throw out bearings, then slapped up (literally, i crushed my finger) the tranny again by the 3 of us. got that all back together, put about 70% of the car back together and it was 11pm. so we stopped and picked up a little and then all headed home. heading back to the garage at 10:30 to continue on in the morning.
but to top it all off, i drive home through some really gay towns where the cops seriously have nothing better to do than to hassle you. so im driving behind another car less than a mile to get to my town line, below the speed limit and i pass a cop on the side of the road. i go down maybe an 1/8 of a mile and i see him pulling out. i was like, oh please no..... ( i had 4 or 5 smirnoff triple blacks from 5pm-11pm, so i wasnt wasted but i was doing ok) so i see him speeding up behind me and then he throws on his blues. i was like WTF, what did i do??? i had to jack up my pants because i pulled 'em down cuz they were all greasy and sh!t from the install and didnt want that all over my seat. so he walks up and he is like, where is your front plate? and i said well i just got this body kit put on and i guess i never got it back from the body shop. so he said what body shop. and i told him the one that is actually right down the street that fixed my fender. so he said ok and took my lic/reg and went to his car. came back 10 secs later and what were you arrested for? so i said i was never arrested! so he asked me what was a major charge i had recently? so i told him i HAD a driving to endanger charge against me, but it should've been erased from my record because i pleaded guilty and got 6 months probation. if the probation was clean w/o incident, it was cleared from my record. so i have no idea how he got that... then he was like you seem glossy eyed, have u been drinking? and i said no sir, i just finished a clutch install on my friends car and pointed to my jeans to prove it. then he asked me if i had anything to hide in my car. and i said no. so he shined his flashlight on my target bag in my front seat that had the rest of my triple blacks in it and my heart dropped when he did. but luckily he didnt see anything showing through. so he asked me about the glossy eyed thing again and he said are you tired, and i said yes sir, i've actually been doing the clutch for over the past 12 hours. so he bought it and said, ok well im giving you a verbal warning to put the plate back on, blah blah blah. so i said ok, and took off.
MOTHER FUKERS!!!! I hate petty gay as$ bullsh!t like that!!! GRRRRRRRRRR. sorry i had to vent and wanted to tell you guys about my night....

that was a close call man. under NO circumstance do you EVER take murder weapon(in this case...the triple blacks) with you when your driving.
that's a dead giveaway that you been drinkin.
BTW....u mentioned I/C pipin. what kinda car does ur friend drive??

back off topic: i dont know what i was thinking. i just wanted to get home and no one else drinks them but me. so rather than finishing them and really gettin hammered, i put 'em back in my car. but my friend has a 99 eclipse gs-t spyder. its a hott car, for a girls car anyways ;)
but we will at the NOPI show in NYC (me, the eclipse, and the rsx) on the 16th and i think im gonna drive home that night and then meet up with all of you guys at Krysy's place on saturday! so if any of you guys are gonna be in NYC on thursday the 16th, come see us at the show! i'll find out exactly where it is when i register tomorrow morning.
