I would've preferred a 6-speed, but I got a fantastic deal on a used 2001 GTS, and unfortunately it's an automatic. I'm looking to up its power a bit, and from what I've been reading, a CAI is a good, cheap, easy way to eke out 10 or so HP. All the articles I've read (and AEM's website) seem to suggest that you can only use a CAI on a manual transmission car. Is that true? If so, why? Yes, I am a newbie.

get an exhaust too then you will PROBABLY get the 10 whp you are looking to get out of it, asides from that.....NOS baby!!!!!!! Maybe pulleys also.....and if you get a "Type-R" sticker you will be hitting 210 hp.....hehe (that was a joke in case u didnt notice)

I used to have the Injen short ram. What happened was that I installed the CAI, I forgot to put it on. I didn't realize it until a couple of months ago when someone pointed it out to me. Haven't had an CEL light on since the install which was about 8 months ago.

Not every Cold Air Intake fits on the auto Celica. Injen I believe is the only CAI that can be used on a manual or automatic transmission, the RMM isn't really a CAI, and the AEM CAI is made only for manuals.
