alright guys..i know i will def. recieve some biased opinions but they're still welcome nonetheless. everyone knows that my celica is gone and that i want a new one. it will come with time..but anyways...GT or GT-S? this is the way i'm seeing it right now. plenty of people would say GT-S idiot...but, the turbo for the GT is about to come out. which would give it that extra umph that i will be looking for. what do i do? i drove a GT-S today and i think it was a 2000 model. the lift was sposed to kick in at 6 thou rpms but i didnt feel it?? and then at about 7 thou it started bogging. 2nd the 2002 ecu has an earlier fuel cutoff than the 2000..anybody know where it cuts off? has anyone seen anything on the boards about the 2000 to 2002 ecu swap? where is the 2000 fuel cutoff?? does the 2002 ecu allow lift to kick in earlier due to the earlier cutoff? man we need someone to develop a good chip. i know these are a lot of questions but i dont wanna be behind other GT-S's just cuz i may get a newer one. that would suck. that would piss me off...for a few days then i would quit cryin about it realizing that i could still kick the shiet outta most other 4 bangin imports. but what are everyone's opinions...or should i get a corolla then trade it in later for a rsx- R..yea right!! peace in da middle east foo!!!
remember guys he who has patience waits a little longer...dont forget that.

Get a Celica.... I don't think you can get a 6 speed GT-S right now. I've only seen the sport shift ones at dealers.

the oo gt-s you drove was cold....the engine has to warm up b4 the lif will kick in...the 02 ecu has fuel cut off at 7900 but that is standing still....my 00 gt-s does the same thing....when rolling the car revs higher...the Vehcile Speed Sensor (VSS) tells the computer when to limit revs...any of this making sence...if not read it again...

I personly went with a GT due to the fact that the VVTI will allways be able to push more boost and NOS than a VVTL-I.
Not to mention a stock GT-S only leads by half a car length when racing a stock GT.
I say save some cash and get a GT and then that will give you more for MODS!!!! :naughty:

who ever you are racing does not know how to drive b/c if they are beating you by half a car length that is almost a race that could go any way. If he were pushing it as hard as he could and you were too and he misses his launch you would win. not here to flame but the GT-S is faster than a GT but the GT would be the way t go since the Turbo is almost out and the GT-s has nothing

Keep in mind, Mig, that the GT-S will have a better aftermarket than the GT does in just a little while. You'll see what i mean come mid 2003, but what do you care..you won't have ur car then anymore anyways..BTW my friend told me you came to see me at work on friday..im sorry i missed you :-/
Brian::It's really your call, bro. Do some research on the cars and get the one YOU think is best. I personally don't think our celicas have enough power to need a 6th gear and i think its a waste of shifting. And i dont see any 300HP+ celicas coming out anytime in the near future...I actually think the GT will have a weaker aftermarket than the gt-s just because its the smaller engine. How many options did you see for the Integra LS compared to that of the GS-R a few years ago? I believe the situation will be similar for our cars. Study up, kid..and choose wisely....Oh and about the RSX-R comment..I would actually rather have one of those than a gt-s anyday..but again..just personal opinions..heh

Sorry for the double post...But, DJGLITCH...what happens when the big bad gt-s with vvtl-i decides to get n2o and or turbo? They had the turbo out for the gt-s almost a year in advance over the gt. Matter of fact..us GT owners are yet to see a successful turbo with all the boost ur talkin about...I know you're familiar with XS-Enginering..true its 6k, but what options do we have as gt owners? none. not even the 6k turbo...

thanx for all the replys...keep em comin....i;m not necessarily tryin to go pro racer but i would like to hit that 300 hp mark. just want a car that'll beat most imports out on the streets, is reliable and looks good at the same time. the celica fits that quite nicely at an affordable price...for me. we'll see what happens...but thanx again guys.
