View Full Version : Tire pressures & alignment redux...
I went to the San Diego autox yesterday to check it out and run w/ the new wheels & tires.
Hot tire pressures in my new 205/50/15 Victoracers were 40psi front, 36psi rear. The car balanced very well but was definitely rolling the tires onto their sidewalls. I noticed that the shoulders of all four tires were much more worn than the insides.
I could also feel that the outer edges of the front tires especially were much hotter than the inner edges. Alignment is -1.5

I suggest 45psi front, 25psi rear. Run -2.0 front camber and -1.5 rear camber. Try 1/8" toe out in front and 1/8"-1/4" toe in at the rear.
I ran -2.1° front camber and got 30K miles out of the stock GT-S Yokohamas. Inside of tires were not work any more than the outside. Middle was worn the most, indicating that I ran the pressure too high. For autocrossing, I always used my Kumho Victoracer V700 tires.

Pressures:
I used to run my V700's at 43 in front and 25 to 30 in back.
Camber:
-2 degrees will not really hurt you street tires very much. I replaced my RE-92's at 37,500 miles (all but 2,500 with -2 camber). The tires still had at least 5,000 miles left on them.

I still have -2 camber on my GTS with 27K mi and have had no adverse affect.
I ran my Victoracers on 205/50/15 last season. With 40 front and 35-36 rears. Watch for the arrows on the sidewalls. If the rollover just meets the arrow, you'll be fine. If it's going beyond the arrows, reduce pressure.

Less pressure on the Kumhos reduces rollover???
Or am I just misunderstanding you?

I would say the opposite...too much rollover, increase pressure...

I ran the same tire last year for over 100 runs from full tread with -2 in the front, -1.5 in the rear, 1/16 out in front and 1/16 in in rear.
43psi front, 33 psi rear.
YMMV :burnout:
