alright, i'm looking into getting some kind of alarm before too long and was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions. i don't really want to spend a whole lot if i can help it, but would still like something that does a pretty good job. the only feature i really want with it (other than being an alarm) is to get keyless entry since i have one of the few GTS's that didn't come with it. also, how hard is it to install these by yourself? i really know nothing about what all is out there right now so any help is appreciated. thanks...

avantguard 4 is good... but be ready to spend 600 for the alarm and another 400 for an installation... and good luck with it... dont get it unless putting 1000 to protect your other investments in the car is economically viable.

I am selling a brand new DEI hornet 553T esp (viper550esp) remote start alarm. Here are the specs:

It's the exact samething as a Viper 550esp, just different name used by DEI for advertising. It has starter kill, adjustable dual stage shock senso, keyless entry, flashing light, remote start, and much more.
Brand new in box with everything, even warranty card.
$200 shipped to your doors.
Email me at mickey513@juno.com if interested.

Cody I had an Alpine on my old car and I really didn't like it, The alarm I have now is a DEI Same as the Viper, Hornet etc... those are all made by the same company, I love this alarm, It has the window roll up, keyless entry, Shock sensor, high voltage siren, door servalience, 6 different tones on the siren and a few others I can't think of I only paid like 300 for it,
I don't think you want to put it in yourself that is a pain in the A$$ also I am not sure who you would want to do it, The people I had do mine sucked as I was driving home a wire from it fell from behind the glovebox I don't do business their anymore,

What do you guys think of an Audiovox alarm or clarion alarms around 200 bucks?
audiovox isn't too bad, the also have a 2 way model that will tell you if he alarm is tripped and how.

here are my thoughts....high end alarms(very worhtwhile if there are aftermarket parts on your car)....compustar.org......clifford.com......alpin e1.com....those are some reliable alarm system companies
as far as other alarms go.....like Viper alarms...IMO....i dont like them because they set off too many false alarms...but im sure their company makes some high end alarms too...
as long as it isnt from wal-mart or radio shack....the alarms should do half or more of the job....
