I misshifted a couple times already (twice) .. both times i went from 4th to 3rd and recently my car seems like it lost alot of kick to it? so anyways how do i check if my valves bent or anything else that may occur if i misshift.

lost compression.. ?????
do a compression test.

NOT SURE IF THIS CAN CHECK FOR BENT VALVES, BUT THIS IS HOW YOU CHECK FOR LOST OF COMPRESSION IN YOUR CYLINDER.
go buy a compression gauge which is only like $25 or so.
and disconnect the battery and take out all the spark plug, and make sure u know which one belongs to which cylinder. then screw the compression gauge into one of the spark plug hole, then go turn your car on(car won't start, cuz of no battery, etc.), but you will crank your pistons. (only crank for 3 cycles-you can hear it)..... then look at the gauge and see what is the pressure in that cylinder.
then compare it to the proper cylinder compression for celica (which i don't know)... if the gauge reads lower than what it suppose to be, then something is wrong ( piston seals, etc)
(excuss all my grammer/spelling mistakes....don't feel like fixing it)

yes doing a compression test can tell you.. if you are low then you add a teaspoon of oil to the cylinder thats low adn do another test..if it goes up then its more likely a bad piston ring or head gasket..if it doesnt go up then its a bent valve.. this is according to the service manuals..

Hmm, somehow it seems that if you disconnect the battery the car won't crank. Just pull any fuses for the fuel injection. The compression should be between 200 and 220.

thanks for the replys... how long do u think it'll take a newbie like me can do this or rate it on a hardness scale (1-10). i dont wanna start on it if i can't finish it cuz it sounds pretty complicated.......

i had to do this on my old truck, have another person help you....remove all the plugs, have your buddy sit in the car and step on thegas, and keep it there. install the compression gauge to one of the cyllinders....have him crank the engine.....take the measurement...repeat for all the cyllinders....then do Larry's test with the oil...but have your buddy keep his foot on teh gas at all time. that way no more fuel is being dumped into the engine...the whole job should take an hour...
