it is easy to do yourself, but if you want them done, any good shop will be able to install them for you. I would suggest OEM pads if you do not brake hard alot as they last a long time and work well.

They are really easy to do yourself. Just make sure you get Semi-mettalics...not Organic. I made that mistake once but didn't realize it until the pads were on the car already. :(

Some Toyota Dealerships are gonna charge you an arm, leg and your first born child to do brakes...while others only ask for a urine sample. :) But if you can get a Toyta dealer to do it for a reasonable price...go for it. I always do my own and it costs me about $60.00 for all parts and the such (pads and turning rotors) and $0.00 for labor.

Hi
I am a first time poster. I just bought my celica used (2001) and the brakes are starting to scrape slightly. Can anyone go a little further and hook me up with a link for instructions for installing the new pads, as well as some specific details for brake pads they may have used. thanks!

the toyota dealership here, for $99.99.. inspects and replaces front brake pads.. and only INSPECTS rear discs or rotors.. if they had to be replaced as well.. i dunno how much that would cost.. i dont even wanna speculate..

I replaced my brake pads with semi metallics and are experiencing some scraping. Is this normal until they wear down some.

Nod nod* that is true, nah i think im gonna do it myself, but knowing my luck i would screw up going to the store not knowing a bit about it first. Plus being a girl and asking for that stuff, u might as well walk in with a picture of the product and point to it saying ' i need a pad thingy.' I hate gettin crap like that >.<

warped rotor, uneven pad wear (so the surface may not be truly flat anymore), or most commonly brake dust which you can cure most of the time by removing the wheels and spraying them down real good with brake cleaner, then going to a flat road and doing a few hard stops...

some of the squeeking in semi-mettalics is often caused by a random clump of metal shard in the pad. it should go away after a while but if it doesn't, try puting some of the goop (technical term, i know), on the anti-squeal shims. Also spraying with brake cleaner is a good idea.
