Anyone else had this problem w/ their paint peeling off the front bumper? I got a 2001 liquid silver gts and i was at the car was and noticed a small black dot which I thought was dirt. Put the water closer to it which just ripped a big ass piece of paint off. This happened in 2 spots and is very noticeable. Can I get the dealer to repaint it?

yep same thing happened to me, i havent said anything to the dealer yet, im not really worried about it since im getting a kit, but they should repaint it for you. my dealer repainted my whole door, when i was test driving it a stick put a scratch on the door and i told them i wanted it fixed so they did it.

Dude...that sucks. I would try taking it to the dealer first. If you are getting a bodykit then you should not worry too much...get it repainted.

I don't know if it's peeling paint. But the left side of my car, the frame between the front windshield and left window has like cracking paint. I never damaged the car in anyway, and I always washed and waxed with with Meguirs (forgot how to spell that). So is this something Toyota would fix too? When you mean by Toyota painting it, do they actually do the painting, or do they give you a check to get it painted somewhere at a shop? Has this happened to anyone before. Thanks.

Yup, I had the same problem. Power washer grabbed a rock chip and ripped a spot about inch by inch off.

Toyota fixed it under warranty for me. Didn't take the guy more than 30 seconds looking at it to make an appointment for me.

I have the great benefit of a small town dealer, but that's what the deal is. Good luck with em. If you want to have the reference, my dealer is Little Apple Toyota in Manhattan, KS.

Yeah Clone that's exactly what happened to me. Was a small rock chip and I thought it was dirt so I sprayed the **** out of it.

So it is under warranty though? That's a big relief for me.

Yup did the same thing, damn chip looked like a bit o' dirt, so I went closer and the dirt started spreading (I mean the paint started peeling) anyway mine was left at the dealer this morning for a repaint of the front bumper under warranty. I have to drive a fricken ECHO! and my car better come back without one damn scratch, I have had it for 6 months and it is scratch free including the interior, the car is absolutely mint just like the day I picked it up. I am worried for my Celi. However I do know that if they damage or scratch anything they are replacing the panel or I will blow up on them.

THAT WILL BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

Got my car back the very next day. They only blew in the spot that was peeling and I had my eyeball 1" away from the spot and can't frick'n see were it was sprayed, it came back absolutely PERFECT! you cannot tell that is was repaired. I was all worried for nothing, I would have rather had the entire bumper painted just to have the other small chips repaired however this was probably best, I would hate to have them keep the car longer and have to worry about all the overspray.

They did not cover mine but just gave me a bottle of touch up paint

Said since gravel or somethin hit it they could not cover it.

warrenty won't cover a rock chip ... however the dealer can goow will this and fix it ... when you sprayed it and the paint began to peel this looks like a paint defect so they have to cover it under warrenty. I would have wanted the whole bumper painted I had a chip in my hood before I bought my celica and told them I wanted it fixed or I wanted them to get another red celica before I bought it ... they fixed it with touch up paint and it is totally obvious how they did it ... to make a long story short they ended up repainting the whole hood to make it satisfactory to me... warrenty is great... remember our headlights our also under warrenty for 36,000 3yrs so when they get foggy like they do go get new ones

I had the problem with chips in the hood. I was so mad because I know it didn't happen from rocks because one spot was in the middle at the very top. The paint was missing in a few spots all the way down to the bare metal. I went to the dealer and had to deal with a few assholes who said rocks chips are not covered under warranty, this went on for a month. They did however touch it up and the guy didn't even clean the hood, he just placed it in blotchs, smudges with his finger in one spot and streaked it in another. To make it worse, he took his dirty rag and wiped my hood which scratched my paint badly. I finally talked to the service manager who also told me it was not covered under warranty, but then I started talking to him and said I would have done a better job with black nail polish in the dark. I told him how important the car was to me, how I was talked down to by assholes because I'm a girl, and how horrble the touch up was. He gave in and gave me a beautiful paint job on the whole hood.

I have these wierd blemishes all over my paint that look like oil (like when water and oil mix in the rain) they are very small like 1 mm but they are all over my car. Body shop said it is from fall out. Southease Toyota (sun toyota is my dealership) sells this toyoguard crap to you with the car that is like 700 bucks that is supposed to protect from stuff like this... so I'm trying to get my car repainted. I have all the rock chips too. Fact is I really think the paint on these cars is just cheap or something. Damn love bugs have eaten through a million spots on the front of my car, and I wash my car like twice a week!
