TRD SS, not compatible with 02 gts?

Hi all, Just wondering if some of you can clear up some confusion for me. I had read that the TRD SS for the 00, 01 gts will not work for a 2002 because of the shift gates.. Is this true? I was planning to buy a trd ss tomorrow for my car, but if its not gonna work right i dont wanna buy it :(
I checked the trd website and it says for 2k and up... sooooo
anyone got anything to say about it?
also anyone have any exp with the trd lowering springs?

I dont have a 02 but i do have a 02 tranny, my trd shifter works just fine..

ive heard it doesnt work becuase of the shift gates as well.. but i was told if you take it apart.. meaning take the shift lever out of the base and put it in yers then it will work fine.. hence the reason the B&M works and TRD does not
