Because when you buy a car you sign your rights away to have the dealer take care of your tax ,title and license...you give them power of attorney. The STATE keeps the Title of Origin....makes a copy on microfiche or whatever...destroys the paper Title of Origin and technically they OWN the car...even when you payoff the car you technically don't own it.....the state does. Of course this is done to seize property in the event of tax problems. You can request the title of origin from the state in writing. The title you usually get is worthless and basically says that "yes" there is a legal title to this vehicle. Go Zedheds!

That whole story is a bunch os BS. I live in AZ, the Nissan testing grounds are out here, at the local car show some of the guys that work there sometimes bring out a skyline or a silvia out for the night, once they are done testing them they destroy the cars, because 1. why would they ship a used car back to japan? 2. they don't need the cars any more, they meet their purpose and the cars have to be destroyed, since they can't be sold here. The state doesn't take the car and destroy it, if that was the case I would see a lot less ricers around here. lol
