for those who dont have a garage to keep your celi in, have you had any problems with security? i mean, with theft? have you ever heard of any one stealing a body kit from a car? a car two parking spots down from me was hit for his 18s and an attempt on his kit. it was ugly. at first i was like "haha damn honda" until i met the guy. i want to go for the whole nine for my celi but the whole jealousy and hate thing has me worried. so what do you guys do to have a peace of mind at night when you go to bed? please help me out on this one.

that has nothing to do with hate or jealously. most probably a drug habit or small time crooks trying to make some quick $$. I would try looking around at local used tire spots and flea markets and such. the rims will probably show up.

It just depends on where you park (neighborhood). If it's a nice area you won't have problems.
Last place I was at had a series of tire slashings and my wife caught a kid walking on the hood of her car. Cheap apt complex with mostly people that aren't on the way up in life, if you know what I mean.
The place I'm now that would never happen. Biggest worry is the kids riding those scooters too close to the cars. In either case security wasn't really the issue, I would like a garage to be able to keep it clean and do maintenance.

well, the n/hood that i live in has never really been bad. it is close to a n/hood that use to be a bad one tho. can any of the aftermarket part be insured? i only pay $86 a month for insurance and i would mind paying more. thanks yall for your insights.

It gets technical, call your provider. I've heard that some do allow this for 'show cars', but there may be restrictions to how many miles you can put on it.

Wow, it must be nice Larryd. Cars getting broken into is a common problem around here. It dosent matter what area you live in?
I had my old car broken into twice and just recently my someone got into my GF's Kia and stole my Dj Cd's, my Stanton Headphones, my Mic, money out of her wallet, and actually took her school books out of her book bag and then stole the book bag. But what I cant figure out is they dint take the $400 Kenwood Deck. Mayby they didnt know it was there because it was flipped around. This was between 9-11pm in the driveway of my grandfathers house.
Can any one tell me how people dont notice other people breaking into cars. Ive heard storys of people tearing doors off right in the middle of a parking lot. Whats up with that????

From experience, if you get a sensitive alarm and park it by your home window then you will catch any person trying to vandalize your car, but the truth is if they want something they'll take it. I got my TRD wing jacked in the parking lot of my college and not a person saw anything. Your safer at home than anywhere else.

spankingts: you got to be kidding!! how in the blue hell did they get your spoiler? its hard to get into the trunk b/c theres is no trunk release. tell me they didn't rip out your seats.
tomd: true indeed, but if you are not around at the time then what? is your celi kept in a garage or is it kept outside near your window?
is it possible to bypass the factory alarms? does anyone know if the factory alarm has a glass breakage sensor on it? is it true that if someone steals your car with a factory alarm that toyota will cover your deductable up to like $500-$1000 something like that?

Yea, I learned to shoot with it. I was going to be a cop and was going to the police academy but I got kicked out of school last February because I was only going to school on fridays. I was taking Criminal Law then.
LIKWIDGTSII- you damn right my car is right by the window. At very good range to blast too.:) And also the factory alarm does have a glass breakage sensor. In fact thats basically the only way to set it off unless the doors or trunk is opened. The factory alarm sux. Not sure of the Toyota deductable though.
Spankingts- That sux someone would do that. I hear about some wierd ass thefts in Florida. (mental note: do not drive to florida.:D)

They just ripped it off the trunk. Messed up my trunk a bit and cut the wires leading to the break light.
A good thing to do is to keep your car well lit at night. If you park on the street in front of your hosue, get a flood light and light up the area you park in. This is what I do and it helps.
If you are really really concerned, get a motion sensor or one of those small video cameras you see advertised on the web all the time for like 99 bucks?
Crooks will steal cars from anywhere. My cousin lives in a good neighborhood and her car still got jacked. It was parked only 100 feet away from her house and right in front of her living room window too. Their problem was that people who live in so-called "safe neightborhoods" like to keep their porch lights off-big mistake, keep them on.
I was lucky when some jackholes decided to give me a free debadging at the mall they didnt screw up my paint.

spankingts: dang man!!! i know you about to get medevil on someones azz when you 1st saw your car. sorry to hear that man.
tom d: i got good range too. i can basically step outside my door and almost get a head shot. how was experience learning to shoot a pistol? i have never held a hand gun b4 but i have all sorts of rifle experience. you have any tips or advice for a beginner. let me ask you why you say the factory alarm? i know its not the worlds best but i wanna hear someone elses thoughts. thanx yo.

Yup.. I saw a GT-S in the Six Flags Great America parking lot with the stock rear wing ripped off.. whoever did it did a sh!tty job and the little vertical shafts that lift the wing off the trunklid were still attached to the car - just ripped in half. I felt sorry for whoever owned that car..

man...the Factory alarm is only good for anti-theft of the vehicle itself...or anything inside it....as far as anything on the outside of your vehicle...well we're all sh** out of luck cuz that factory alarm cant sense any of that...i suggest everyone (who hasnt yet) get a "state of the art" alarm system...like the 'compustar AS200' or a "Clifford 600" , my cuosin has a high end Alpine system and it is awesome...it has a LCD screen inside the car...and when u come in and start the car it will tell u the history of the car since the last time u turned it off....say like if someone tampered with it, it will let u know....or if it was a false alarm trigger, it will let u know....etc...

That's the thing.. she didn't even have a nice car. It was a 95 honda civic ex. The only expensive thing was the rims, which were not even that expensive albiet they look a little nice, probably around 400 bucks for all four. They didn't manage to even steal anything, they tried to steal the rims but the locks were too much for them. Even the stereo didnt even look like it was even touched! These were amatures for sure.
My cousin saw that her car was gone at the last moment and saw it being driven away! Right after she got her little brother and his car and went looking for her ride and found it on a long stretch of road. I dunno what she thought she was gonna be able to do when she did catch them :bang:
Anyway.. if you guys are willing to spend big bucks, I would go with these all wheather cameras which you can broadcast over the internet and view your car from anywhere in the world.
http://www.webcamstore.com
And your right, its going to be a little hard finding a place to put those cameras because they are not wheather proof so it has to be inside, also since they'll be used at night, you'll need a flood light to light up your car enough for the camera to be effective.

I used to park my celi on the side of the street right outside my house.. until last week when somebody made a nice dent in my car right above the triangular-shaped window on the drivers side.. sucks too.. hard place to get to fix.. probably expensive too..oh well, i guess i had to learn the hard way..

yeah..trust me..there are hardcore theives out there..bunch of mofos... parked my car for 10 mins and my s2k antenna was stolen already... and especially in high school..where there are a lot of dip****s around..think its funny to mess up another persons car or steal their ****.. i almost never drive my celica.. i drive my 92 accord around and floss it =0).. i keep a bat and a shank in both cars... a bat in the trunk and a shank on the side of the driver seat... i nearly lost my mind when my antenna got stolen.. man..if anything else happened..i would have ran to my sergeant... still his plane and drop a nuke in alhambra =0)
MeGaXmAn27, you got that right about the high-school thing. You gotta get in the habbit of starting to park your car near nice cars. Not to mean that you are being snobby or whatever, but its just that people with nice cars tend to like to keep their cars looking nice so you wont get any dents or dings from them. Going that extra mile can prevent you from pay a $1000 deductible for a dent.

I don't know man. Where I went to HS most of the kids with nice cars were clueless jackoffs. Rich daddies buying them expensive cars. I stuck to driving my '90 4 -Runner. Those kids were idiots. I always park my Celica in the next damn zipcode whenever I'm in a parking lot now.
