I'm looking to get heavily into the world of cars, especially imports and not sure what I want yet. Right now I'm leaning towards a Celica GTS, but also considering a 99 Eclipse. I know I might get a biased answer here, but can somebody give me pros and cons or other suggestions. If this helps, I want to eventually build a car that can at least smoke all the damn stangs around. Dream car is a mkiv twin turbo supra, but dont see that happening.

I think the Eclipse GS-T or GSX will be the easier one to mod and get power out of because it has a good amount of aftermarket support and it's turbocharged :). The GT-S is a great car also, but even after 2 years, the aftermarket still isn't that great. It does have great potential however, and can also be made very fast. If you want all out speed get the Eclipse. But if u want a cool looking car(Im not saying the Eclipse isnt cool looking, but you know what I mean) that is also pretty fast, get the GT-S. :) It's your money, your choice....go with the one YOU want.

I agree with the Eclipse if you want to get into aftermarket hardcore, Personally If I had to do it all again I would have gotten a 6-speed GTS instead of the 5-Speed GT but still would have gone with the Celica, But it is really a personal thing I really like the looks of the Celica and have learned to deal with the lack of Aftermarket, Maybe LarryD will give a little insight on this question He recently went from his 00-GTS (RIP) to an Eclipse.

I agree with the other guys. The only bad part about the eclipse is crankwalk.

The mITSuBiShi doesnt have the dependability the Toys do. Sure you can get lots of cool parts for them, but you'll spend alot more time and money just to keep it runing. L8r

If you want a fast stock car a Mitsu GS-T or GSX is the way to go. But you have to remember that this cars prime is over. Sorry larryd, my opinion. And the new Eclipse is not exactly what I would call a "Smoke em all" type of car.
the Celica will contiue to be developed for the next couple of years and has developed quite a following. Yeah its been slow but its there. An affordable turbo setup will be available in about 3-5 months and the it will be on.
Another possibility is a WRX. People who own them seem to really enjoy them...

I would go with the old Mitsubishi and all, but from what I hear the dependability on the older ones is poor.

Don't expose my secret code U420. The mITSuBShi is a great car. It keeps the wannabees out of our Celi's.:chuckles:

make that very poor, I'm a little biased but mitsubishis basically suck. Only time I'm glad I had one was when it was working and running high 12s, Out of the 7 months I had it it was down 4 or so months, not very good, stick with dependability, you'll be sorry you didnt if you get the mitsu.

hey awdboost, good job on the 13.6 stock turbo, you dont really see many people there with the t-25, and thats probably as far as youre gonna wanna go, as everything below that stock turbo starts to get expensive. Good luck on getting better times with that turbo! :)
