Hi guys, now I am ready to buy an exhaust for my 2001 GT. I have heard different comments on HKS, Blitz, Apexi and Tanabe. I don't like it to be loud so I guess you guys will tell me to go for HKS. As for hp gain, that's what I need more info on!!! Thanks for any input!!!

All the exhausts will give you about the same gains, except for the Kazuma which is illegal.

If it were me, I'd get TRD or Blitz. HKS is way too quiet from what I've heard. People have told me it's quietier than stock, but if you like it go for it.

Well I like deep tone, if HKS is quieter than stock then I won't go for it. what exhaust gives a good deep tone???

Honestly TRM, but TRM has an annoying rattle at idle cause the can is on a angle which kinda hits the rear bumper a bit. So the TRD is another good choice too.

To tell you the truth the HKS is not that loud, definetly not as loud as TRM, but it certainly is louder than stock. It has a low, deep tone but is not annoyingly loud. IMHO, it is very good quality and it sounds loud enough for me, (you dont want it to be too loud). I suggest you also look at the GReddy EVO, its a little louder than HKS and sounds and looks good.

Hope this helps

TRD..... it's what I have.

I have gotten sooo many nice comments on how good the exhaust sounds. It's deep, louder than stock but not annoying.

I originally got the TRD so it wouldn't void my warranty, even though I blew the warranty one month later... but if I had to do it again... i would stay with the TRD...

Seems like HKS and TRD are the goodies to go with!!

Dont forget the Blitz Nur-Spec

I think the Nur Spec looks fantastic. Provides a nice deep tone without being too loud. A tad softer than the TRM. A good all around exhaust, but doesn't provide as much top end power as my TRM did. Still, I'd recommend it for someone not going to extremes.

my trm doesn't hit my bumper at all
its not as close as my friends and he doesn't have a kit.
i dont know why, but there clearance and no weird rumble at idle.
TANABE all the way if you plan on a kit

Yep, I'm going back to a TSRM first chance I get. Nur-Spec isn't for me. ;)

Do you have to have the dealer install the TRD exhaust in order for it not to void the warranty or can it be installed by the owner? How much have you guys paid for the TRD? I saw it for $479 from West Covina, and am planning to price it at local dealers soon. I listened to some of the clips on the exhaust chart and it sounds good to me. It's better looking than stock but not so flashy as to attract unwanted attention.

Install the exhaust yourself, it's not that hard. It's three rubber hangers and two bolts. Installing it yourself won't void your warranty. The dealer must directly show how the exhaust messed up your car. I don't see how an exhaust could mess anything up if properly installed.
