There is a sweet blue spec GTS 5-speed I am thinking of getting at the local dealership....

First off, I know with leasing its cheaper, but you only get so many miles more per year..., but honestly what are they pros and cons?

I know near the end of the lease you can "buy out" the car, so what if I go cheap on leasing and just buy out the car in 60 months?

And what about mods? Are mods a no-no on leased cars?

Usually people lease so they can drive cars they could never afford to own, and appear to be in a higher tax bracket.

You can mod your call all you want. But once it goes to the dealership. You gotta remove all that ish. Or else they'll kick ya in the nuts.

You could lease if A) you arent a high mileadge driver and B) you like to be driving the newest models all the time.

The lease with option to buy deal, well you are still going to be paying more than if you were to own it.

Bah typos! Of course I meant GTS 12-speed! :gay:

I like to drive, whats the cost on extra mileage?

I mean I could buy the car for like 370 a month or lease it for 220 a month (so says the website).

You can tell I am american because I like to own now pay later.

If you are a high mileage driver you better buy you will be spending more in the end. You also have to consider that your insurance maybe higher if you lease. No matter what you will be paying the price difference one way or another.

Check out what your overall cost will be...Leasing to buy usually costs a few thousand more. Do the math and see for your self if it's really worth it or not.

I don't think there is a such thing as a good deal when it comes to buying a car, especially new.

Is used out of the question?

going over milage at the end of your lease, it really depends what the dealer says as far as how much it would be i think mine is .15 a mile or something like that

sometimes lease isn't too bad..
my friend leased his integra with option to buy and he paid almost same as owning at the end of lease term including his residual balance to pay off....

I agree on all of the above but also look at it this way...

If you lease a vehicle, and you want to buy it at the end of the lease, there is no negotiating the price. You will pay full retail price for that car.

If you buy it, you can always negotiate and get a better deal.

If you lease, and you go over the 12,000 miles per year, you have to pay for every mile. That really sucks and can get very expensive.

If you lease the car, and modify it..... watch out. Because any dents, marks, scratched etc,..... they will charge you for.

IMHO... leasing is a joke because the car really isn't yours to do with what you want. If you buy a car it is yours and no one can charge you anything, especially if you get the sudden urge to paint it florescent pink with strobing christmas lights wrapped around the wing!

Leasing isnt a bad option for a car like this. Its already pretty good out of the box and there arent too many realistic mods for it anyways. (turbo is pricey) if you have a grip of money, buy it outright dont even finance. If you cant really afford to finance it then lease is good. You can throw on some goodies like I/E maybe a body kit? and take it back to dealer and sell the parts..

Lets do some general finance..

Buy:
Car= 23K + Tax and License= ??25K + Finance = Ouch
youll be paying a lot for that car, then the car devalues and you have a negative investment...

Cars are not investments like houses. They devalue faster than you can pay them off. If you plan on keeping the car for ever then yes just finance, but if you like having a new car every few years then dont put your money into a bad investment.

Get a good Lease plan and watch your miles.

Buy used, if you can stomach it. My payments are low and I could drill speedholes in the body panels and have nobody to answer to besides myself. I know, somebody popped the cherry on my celi before I got my hands on it, but I let them take the first year depreciation hit on it as well, so it works out.

I wouldn't want someone to pop the cherry on my girl but hey to each his own!

Leasing is how dealers and saleman screw you without you knowing it. DO NOT LEASE if you can avoid it. There is no law that makes it mandatory for the dealer to illustrate how much you are leasing. Dealers can easily inflate the FINAL amount by manipulating your monthly payments.

If you are seriously looking at getting a car, go to a bookstore and look for "What Car Dealers DOn't want you to know" by Mark Eskeldson. Buy a fat cup of coffee and read the chapter on leasing. The 20-30 minutes you spend reading this book will save you from getting screwed over for thousands of dollars.
In regards to monthly payments, what sounds better 200 or 400 a month? what if the 200 a month ended up being $30K in then end, and the 400 a month ended up being $18K in the end... and the 400 a month was for a shorter time period. Sooooo...

Do not quote a monthly payment for a dealer. Do not tell them you are trading in. DO get a good final price for the car, and don't be afraid to walk away.

Leasing is good for taxes when your new Celica is your "business car" :wiggle:
