Hey all!

I have had white faced indiglo gages for awhile now, and they are starting to dim, almost like dropping the voltage in half or something. Basically after I turn on the lights, they work just fine for a period of time, and then the flick to about half as bright. I want to tear them apart to see if I can fix them, but I want to see if anyone has had this problem before and fixed it. (BTW, yes I did a search, and came up empty.)

A couple of things, is it the actual gages (Indiglo overlay, not the actual gages) that die, or is it the power inverter that supplies the power to the gages?

It is driving me nuts now, and I want to fix it soon. If anybody has had problems with this, please help. I want some opinions from you all before I go ripping **** appart.

switch the power wire to another source vs. the one you are using presently as well as your negative.
if your have a sub and amp running, this can cause your idiglos to flicker or dim out!

Your invertor might be going bad.

The thing that I was thinking of doing was to check the voltage out of the inverter when the gages are OK, then after they are dimmed. If the voltage drops, then it should be the inverter.

Would it be possible to fix an inverter with parts from Radio Shack?

I tried to open my invertor when it died but it was sealed, and the only was was to cut into it. I dont know anything about invertors so I couldn't say if it can be fixed or not. You might be able to just buy a new one one the internet somewhere and save time.

My inverter was the problem at first. I switched it almost 2 years ago & it' still going fine. I think I have an extra somewhere. Mine flickered & never came back on. I cracked the old one open & it would not be a good idea to try & fix it. Might just fry the guages.

How did you know what to replace it with?

If you know what the output voltage should be, can you just step down the voltage to the output level, or are these inverters something kinda funky?
