I currently drive a Turbocharged Lexus GS300 but it will be sold on Sat. That afternoon I am looking to buy a fully loaded 2002 GTS with 27k miles, warranty, Toyota certified, for $17k from a dealer. Is this good deal, should I do it?? What is the average price for this car/miles? How is the resale value on a Celica? ANyone have nay problems I should be concerned with buying this car? Any opinions or suggestions or basically any inof would be great! Thanks, Matt

welp if you're really concerned with performance, an 02 is not the model year to get because the rev limiter is at 7800 whereas the other cars' (00, 01, 03) limiters are at 8400. this is important because the 02's gimpiness cripples its 1/4 mile time (GTS's power band starts at 6k and the 7800 limiter puts you UNDER 6k when u shift at redline).
there is a writeup on how to remove the limiter on an 02 on this site i think... will set u back a few hundred but i think an 02 GTS with that many miles for 17k is a good deal, so maybe ud wanna buy that car and do the swap.

Ok now I found a 2002 with 17k for $16,000 but it is only the GT but has the action package (5 speed, no leather). So it has 10k less miles and is $1,000 less than the first one I mentioned. However, it is only the GT not the GTS (6 speed, leather, but no action package) like the other. Of the two which would you guys go with and why?

Well I guess it comes down to what you want out of a car mcnelson. Are you more concerned with looks or performance? If you don't care about performance get the GT. If you want a faster car go for the GT-S. Also that GT has the veilside front end and the TRD sides.
Another thing is how you drive your car. To get that extra 40hp out of the GT-S, you gotta rev it to 6000+ and some people don

17K is right on for a 2002 retail. Check out Kelly Blue Book. You should make some money on this deal. What's wrong with your Lexus?

:wtf:
mcnelson, $17k for a 2002 GT-S isn't a bad price. All the dealers around here are charging $17,5 and up for a 2000 with 40k+ miles on them. I bought my 2000 GT-S about 3 months ago with 28k from a private owner for $15k. So as far as the price you're getting, it's a good deal.
However, I am a little confused as to why you're downgrading from such a nice car to a Celica? Honestly, there's alot nicer cars out there in terms of comfort, power, and reliablilty. Handing is hard to match, though. If I was in your position, I would go for something like a WRX, STi, or an EVO8. But, to each his own.
