Hi,
I am new to car mods, what brand of tools is best? I see craftsman, stanley, and snap on. I am thinking about opening a shop and need opinions. Sorry if this is in wrong section!

APC makes garbage parts he is being a smart ass. Snap is suppose to be the best but I have no personal experience.

I've been using Craftsman tools with no problems.

If you're going to open up your own shop then Snap on would be the best tools to buy. They're expensive though but you get what you pay for. For the weekend warriors, Craftsmen are my favorites. They have lifetime warranties on all their tools and the prices are reasonable. I have a few Stanley screwdrivers which aren't too bad. I don't have any experience with MAC or Husky so I can't say anything about them.

Craftsmen are good, you can take them back in 50 years if they break.

Agreed, Craftsman is more than enough for DIY use. For professional use, I'd go with Snap-On or Mac.

Craftsman is the best tool for a guy that gonna work on his car every now and then

I have a set of HUSKY wrenches and they are absoulutely supberb. They are a hell of a lot more dense than most sockets and their quality and finish are beautiful. Their mechanisms on the sockets and the handles fit like gloves and snap together. I highly recommend them to any one who wants a quality and affordable wrench set. I have previously owned a set of craftsman and the only two things I like about craftsman are their innovative designs and twists on old tools and the fact that you can take a broken tool to them and they will replace right there and then no questions asked.

My grandfather returned a breaker bar after who knows how many hard years of use.

Same here. I started off with a decent set of like 122 I think it was and Ive just gone back quite often and bought more and more until now I think I have everything I need to do 99% of jobs.

I have on friend that only buys craftsman and another that swears by snap on. But I never had trouble with using the craftsman.

ditto... one set that is a must have is a set of ratcheting wrenches.

surprisingly enough, i don't use wrenches often enough to justify buying ratcheting ones

nice

i wonder if i can exchange some tools that are dirty :chuckles:

Dawnskaybug
03-03-2004, 01:45 PM
My work uses nothing but snap on and there usually is no problem with exchanges unless there is obvious abuse like a screwdriver used a chisel
Kobalt (lowes) are made by snap on
Craftsman is not exclusive to sears either
Base/Post Exchanges (military Wal-Marts) sells them
If sears exchanges for rust all the crap Ive seen at auctions I could of made a killing

Miguel GTS
03-03-2004, 04:28 PM
well they told me that won't exhange just for rust but these tools were rusted so bad they they wouldn't work
