View Full Version : Got my VIS hood Cleared and scoop painted!!

I am loving it I got 9 coats of clear on the hood wetsanded in between each coat and I mean you are talking some major ass deep reflections!! I will try and post pics at some point!! I really want to get the rest of this crap on my car first tho!!!

Why exactly did you get it clearcoated again? Was the clear coat just tired and worn out? Or was it yellowing? In only one place, my hood has this weird looking kind of whitish streak on it. It's like 6 inches long, and and about 1 inch wide It's not really yellow. You can barely see through it though. It's almost as if the hood was affected my heat or something, but it would have had to be engine heat, not sunlight. I don't think it's the carbon fiber, and hopefully is the clear coat. If I got mine re-clearcoated, do you think it would go away?

Oh yeah, how much did this cost you?

i would think about 200-300 for a re-clear coat, but you could try some 3M scratch remover to buff it out, then some wax, might work, TIM

I got mine clearcoated 10 times for $125 plus my scoop being painted was another $45 and its nice!! I would say aerospike that your streak will probably go away because they wetsandedthe hell outta mien so it just depends on how deep down it is!!! If you have any more q's hit me up on the PM, I amtrying to get pics up!!

I'm wanting to get a CF Invader hood and I'm trying to figure out if there is a difference in AA and A type CF hoods besides being double sided?
Is $565 a good price on the VIS AA Invader hood including shipping? thanks~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Yes that is not a bad price with the shipping for an AA hood however I will say that there isnt really any difference in an A hood and an AA hood, I mean some of the skeleton is c/f but I dont see it being enough to warrant paying extra for it!!!!! I cannot stress that enough, cause my hood is an AA and I exected the whole underside of the hood to be c/f but nope its just the skeleton and trust me it is nowhere near the quality of the finish that is on the topside of the hood so if I were you I would save your money and just get an A grade hood!!!

Hmmm . . .I find it odd that some cf hoods are getting messed up. My engine was on fire with the flames coming out the hood scoop, and the hood is in perfect condition inside and out.

I will have pics this weekend I hope, I took the hood back off to take to them and have them wetsand it once more, I found one little thing in it I didnt like that can be wetsanded out so I am having it done. What can I say I am anal as hell!

I will post up pics of the hood inside and out. No flame effects though . . . sorry. :D I know . . .

THE THREAD IS WORTHLESS W/O PICS. The only ones I could give you at this exact moment would be from the crap 1 megapixel camera on my phone.

I like to think it was a good move even though I now have like nearly $800 in my VIS hood, but hey it was money well spent to me. Hopefully I will not have any fading or browning issues in a few years!!

My hood didn't fade, brown, chip, look nastey, and ihad it for over a year. I'm pretty sure i only waxed it like twice, maybe 3 times, but i doubt it.
