do a 3SGTE engine swap would be better, make sure you get the electronics (ECU) from the 3SGTE engine as well.

There are tons of shops that actually specialize in engine swaps and can get you the 3SGTE swap from Japan rather cheap.

ya but the engine swap would also have to come with a new computer and wireing i allredy looked into it, if i was to get the 30,000 mile motor from japan with all the new crap i would just rather go out and buy the complet kit for about 2 1/2 g' iam kinda on a tight buget

Call Toysport in Gardena. They can get front clips for under 2K, and they usually have some in stock.

the money it would cost you to build up your internals and install a turbo kit would be way more than 2K. definatly call Toysport if they can get you a clip for under 2K. Or call Stafford Fabrications and have him do a kit for you. I was at his shop the other day and he had a killer MR2 with a 3S-GTE in it. Sorry i dont have his # in front of me but search this forum, its in there

I just wanted to add that the 3S-GTE block (1990 +) is also better than the 3S-GE block. It is much sturdier, the crank is beefier, and it comes with oil squirters and the like. The older 3S-GE block has been known to crack in one or two locations when put under high HP. (I don't know how likely it is, I have just heard of it hapening)

also, I'd say go over to celica.net and check out their forums. There are more older model celicas over there than there are here.

Coolness - you scored a hell of a deal then - congratz on that. Since you got it so cheap you should think about overhauling it and changing out all the seals and gaskets and checking the bearings before you install it to ensure reliability.

thats what i planed on doing peolpe where sayint hat just for the motor alone it would cost me about 2g's since my buget right now is only about $800 this is one hell of a deal

That is a steal of a deal. You are lucky as hell, thos things usually go for arounf $1500 complete.

The only problem is your still gonna need a tranny. That tranny is a four wheel drive tranny. Try and get a tranny from a 5sfe celica engine. That will bolt right on the engine and bolt right into your car. Only things you should need after the tranny is an intercooler and some piping.

damn good deal!!

Oh, and mounts and possibly shift cables.

Oh, are you sure he needs a trans? He has a NA 3S-GE now, it may have the same bolt pattern to the bell housing no? Probably worth checking anyways.

His shift cables and engine mounts will bolt right up.

Yeah he needs a tranny, His tranny bolt pattern is exactly the same, it will bolt up, but on the 3sge tranny the starter bolts where the turbo sits (under the exhaust). The 5sfe tranny is the same exact tranny as the 3sge but on the 5sfe tranny the starter bolts on the opposite side clearing the turbo perfectly (opposite the exhaust).

Cool.

Interestingly enough, the Tacoma and IS300 trannys also bolt right up :D
