What exactly is NOS, is it street legal, why would you not want your dealer to know you had it, what is the benefit, and what is the drawback?
My car is paid for, so I wouldn't mind making some mods to it, but I don't race so I'm not going to spend lots of money for small increases. I also don't want to lose fuel efficiency. I know this isn't the right forum, but what do CAI and aftermarket exhaust (TRD, HKS, etc.) do to fuel efficiency?

NOS is a brand name. I never heard anyone call Nitrou systems "nawsss" until that damn movie came out.
We always called it nitrous.
NOS = Nitrous Oxide Systems.
Nitrous is not street legal, at all, anywhere in the US that I know of. You don't want your dealer to know about it because it will void your warranty if you use it.
CAI, and Exhuast should increase your fuel efficiency in most cases because you have a free-er flowing system.
However, what usually happens when you get a CAI/exhaust is you find that your car makes a great sound above 6k rpms and you live up there, ... gas mileage goes out the window at that point

I'm not sure that I "hate" the fast and the furious. I like the idea of a movie based on some of the things that really do go on in America. But all the crap that came about because of it. ..... ."nawz" dude, i'm getting "nawz". I have a slow pos civic HX but I'm gonna put "nawz" on it and I will beat any big block out there....................... And when we get people on this site that the first mod they even wanna add to their car is a big bookshelf wing and to shoot flames out the back of their exhaust.
that's the crap I hate. :ugh: :gay:

I love the response I got from my Toyota mechanic when I told him I'm considering getting a nitrous setup on my car...
"Are you crazy? Haven't you seen the movie? Warranty's not gonna cover that when it blows up under the hood."
Oh well...

Nitrous IS LEGAL in most states, you are required by law to have a CDL license to carry more then 1000LBS of it. Some local jusristictions might have a band on it. Its legal to install, and use as long as you dont race or speed. smirk smirk Do some research to make sure, most local cops will NOT know for sure.
Get your local state police to send you a letter, thats what I did

You are right.......N2O....... is a great mod because of the extra Oxygen that is introduces in the combustion process..Thus making it dangerous as well.....more Oxygen means more heat production which can crack the head. The N2 accually breaks apart from the O2 under the heat and gets exspelled in the exhaust. NOS kit does not run all the time....it is accuated by a button at full throttle. It must be used at full throttle otherwise you will damage your engine.

No, no, I think they meant orange juice. So if I put orange juice in my engine, I'll get double or even triple the horsepower?
;)
where i come from juice is hydros in a vehicle

Nitrous is N2O, Two parts nitrogen one part Oxygen.
The idea is to allow more oxygen into the system, but to avoid going lean you need to add more fuel. If you add too little fuel you will go lean, if you add too much you will go rich.
Massively higher temps will only occur in an unbalanced (non stoich) mixture. Higher chamber pressures will occur due to the increased explosive energy produced by the higher efficiency mixture.
Its the pressures you have to watch out for, too much and bye bye piston ring, if your really unlucky and have a bad piston from the factory (or damaged from a poor setup) then you will break the piston.
I like the Fast and the Furious, its pure entertainment with no plot or real story of any kind, just mindless fun, you have to love it for that alone. What does get on my tits is the way they say chassis, thats just not right, do all you guys talk like that?
