POst de un RSX Owner..
My RSX needs a whole new roof!!!!
I am so sad. Back in october I got into a slight accident, had a tire blowout, lost control of the car, did a 360 and ended up on the side of the road. Didn't actually hit anything other than a small rock that popped my tire on the side of the road. So anyway, call the insurance co. they appraise the damage at around 4000 dollars (needed new front struts, two new tires, rims, mudguards, and some minor body work to the fender) So it gets fixed, insurance taken care of etc. Had a crappy rental car for almost a month while it got fixed.
A little while ago I noticed there is paint chipping off the roof on the passenger side near the sunroof, and it started to rust, so again I take it into the dealership, and they tell me to bring it in this monday to get it fixed.
Well, today, I get a call from the service guy at the dealership, I'm thinking he is going to tell me my car is ready. But no, he sais "bad news, you need a whole new roof" Turns out when I had my accident, somehow the roof got damaged, and it was slightly buckled (you can barely see it by looking at it) and that is what caused the paint to chip. I couldn't believe it, I would never think my accident would have damaged the roof, I never hit anything, but I guess it was enough stress to the body of the car to damage the roof. The guy told me since the roof is the least strong part of the car he wanted to fix it so it would be safe, he said it would look like new, but I was just in shock that was the last thing I expected to hear.
So now I have to go back through insurance, reopen the old claim, have the appraiser out again to make sure that it is covered by insurance and I won't have to pay for a new roof, and get stuck with a crappy rental again for who knows how long while they fix the roof. Making me kind of glad I decided to lease and not buy.... On second thought, maybe I should ask them to leave the roof off and make it a convertible, might look pretty good
