I just took my car into my dealer for it's 12k mile service, basically just an oil change and quick inspection. The advertised price for the service is $29, and I brought my own oil in (5 quarts of Valvoline synthetic), so when the bill came out to $35 I was like WTF?? Turns out they assesed me a extra $12 charge to remove the skid plate below the engine to access the filter and drain plug.
Anyone else get this tacked onto your service bill? I mean, wtf? It's not my fault that damned thing is there, I didn't build it that way or anything. They should just absorb that as part of the job shouldn't they? Ahhh... I'm just gonna start servicing the car myself, forget trying to let the dealer keep good tabs on the maintenance of the vehicle. I'll just keep records myself.
Even worse, those guys didn't give me the leftover oil after the job was finished. Didn't check until I got home. Now I'm not even sure they really used what I bought or if some scrubby guy took my stuff and pumped their regular CitGo crap into my car.

That's ridiculous, next thing they'll be charging for floormat installation (Oh wait, I think they already try to :annoyed).

Ha! Get this. This takes the cake - when my other friend brought his GT-S in for service they told him that his car didn't come with the skid plate. So what do they do? They charge him $60 bucks to put one on.
When I heard that, I just couldn't believe it. Damn tiny island - wish we had more options here.

Skid plates? What did that they the Celica is....an off-roader? Skid plates are made out of aluminum.
Just some bogus charge, that you should demand to get your money back.

Yeah....actually I got that charge b4 too at Mr Lube (a store here that does mostly oil change) and they did charge me $10CDN to remove and put back the skid plate...I would thought that Toyota wouldn't charge that since the celica was made that way...

And for those of you who have changed your own oil, you'll know that it is only 3 screws and a few of those twisty plastic screws holding it up there.
What a joke....why I'll never have anyone else change the oil again. That and I can do it in 20 minutes with Mobil One for $20. Beat that Jiffy Lube.

Toyota should not have charge that fee because the Celica comes like that. It is not like if though we added that piece on our self.
Yeah, and like what someone say. I rather change the oil myself plus it cheaper, takes about 30 mins plus I get the satisfaction that some fool on crack last night or drunk didn't touch my car.
Plus it cost me $10-$12 to do my own oil change with a OEM toyota oil filter.

Wait a second, how do we keep records of our own personal maintenance so that if anything bad happens they can't blame us for poor maintenance? I always thought you had to take your car to the dealer for everything up until our warranty expires.

Keep a copy of the paper they print out for you so youll have proof. They have exactly what they did and what miles they changed it at. First time I went to Jiffy Lube to get my oil changed they wouldnt do it because of the skid plate. They said they had trouble putting them on and that place wouldnt do oil changes on the celica anymore. I just take it to the dealer now and never been charged for replacing the skid plate.
