I was driving a friend's 2002 porsche, and I really liked the headlamps (gas filled or whatever . . .). What is the XXXX K rating on an HID that would look almost identical? Also, I saw these clear bumper lenses that were like the JDM triangular ones except they were clear. Are these for a supra? If so what year, and where could I get them? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

theres no real way anyone can say what XXXXk they hids are. many factors play in determining what the light will look like. it may be a 4100k bulb, but the light housing it's in may produce light to look blueish/purple. if you put the same bulb in our car the light would look totally different, like a white/yellow color.

as for the clear lens, yes those would be for the supra, many people look on ebay for them, you may have to wait for an auction if their isn't any right now on there.

Cool, thanks for the info. If any one has Hid kits, please let me know what yours looks like compared to a porsche.

i can try to let you know. we got a porsche retrofit kit for HIDS (YES , porsche actually makes the upgrade for anyone who wants HIDS :) ) i want to say they are 4100 off the top of my head but i'm not positive. i'll be home in a few weeks and hopefully by then our car is back from the paint show with our new bumper :)

Here are a few of my 8000k HID's that I am currently selling. I just bought some 4100k from Xenon Depot's GB, just needed more light.

I've heard 5000k is the best for the Celica if you want bluish/purplish light and still want to see well. Anything above 6000k will hurt light output, and with 41/4300k, the projector makes the light a bit more yellow than OEM HIDs, but you'll get the best vision out of any HID with them.

one thing i noticed is that the celica looks a lot like the porsche at night. if a porsche approaches you from behind, looking through the rearview mirror, you see 2 projectors and 2 orange sidemarkers. on the celica (if you disable the inner parking lights), it looks almost the same. i once mistakened a celica for a porsche haha.

You can get the clears below, they are for the supra. Procarparts.com used to sell them alot cheaper but just stopped carrying them.

The HID system is a 4100K system. Being a German car, they are almost certainly Philips. The projector design is responsible for the colors you are seeing, not the capsule. For the closest and most plug-and-play match on a Celica, I would recommend a 5000K Philips system from Xenon Depot (site sponsor).

Actually the HID system in Porsche's are made by BOSCH.

Did you just get H7 HID's? Did you use your non-projector headlights? You could just get the upgrade Litronic Kit that utilizes projector headlights (same as OEM HID's but they don't self level). Granted it costs a grand to do, it is a better option (plus the head lights are clear - no orange strip just orange bulb).

i was about to say the same thing. while you are at it, get the 03 tails from the boxter. no orange in it either. a worthwhile aesthetic investment my porsche buddy!

Yeah I got the 03 tails from suncoast motorsports (they have the best prices). BTW if you want both the litronics, the tails, plus the smoked clear corners, suncoast offers a package deal that saves some money.

suncoast = opposite side of country from me:( it's ok. i don't need 03 tails for our 993 :)

Very Nice. Were you considering a full 996 front conversion cause I see a 993 in the background with that conversion? Here are some pics of an awesome twin turbo 986S with that conversion:

yeah Ed,

didnt kno u had one either!! Mine is pretty much stock too. Parts are expensive for this car compared to celica. Yeah i got the 2.5 in there right now, would love to do a swap and put the 996 3.5 in there but i dont see that happening. My mods are basically the upgrade to clear headlights, redded out tails, smoke sides, turbo front (to be installed), HID's, and some ICE. dont really wanna do much to it, but we'll see. i'll get some current pics up soon. u got any parts to sell?? :)

Bizzy, did you mean the 996 3.4 or 3.6 engine? I don't think there is a 3.5. I know for the 3.2 in the S, it is better (performance wise) to spend the money on mods (intake, header, chip, forced induction) than to get the swap, it may be the same for the 2.5 and 2.7 engines in the boxster.

yeah sorry the 996 3.4 engine. intake, headers, chip, exhaust is gonna run me close to 5g's from FVD. with those add ons, FVD said they can get the car as fast as the 3.2 in the S.

Nope, its all about the 3.6 in the GT3. How can you beat 380 naturally aspirated horsepower with an 8,200 RPM redline.:AF:

I'll take some pics with the HID's on my porsche. I told trevor i would get him some pics as soon as i put them on and that was months ago. Mine are much birghter than the litronics ones. I've compared them to a local guy i kno that has litronics.
