has anyone noticed cops using chevy impala's that have the blue lights mounted high in the windshield and other then that are really well disguised? A few weeks ago I saw someone pulled over by one, and this morning on the highway I came up behind one and he was doing 90 and he flashed his lights. I backed off, and slowed down to try to get behind me to pull me over but I got off the exit and he had to keep going. But what pisses me off is the license plate was a normal state plate like any other car. There were no stickers or label that showed that it was a cop car. Is this someone's sick joke or are cops really switching over to chevy impalas.
Wish they'd go back to their crappy easily identifiable fords.

Cops in QC have been using the "stealth" Impala's for several years now. Front and rear are white, on the side there is an SQ crest. Lightbar is integrated in the windshield and rear window, but you can still identify them via the radio aerial, fleet plates and black steelie wheels.

Some departments around here use Chevy Impalas as well as Ford Mustangs and Chevy Camaros. Quite a number of departments are now using special 911EP Millenium light bars (or the equivalent) that are low-profile. They appear clear, use LEDs and only stand 2" tall at the most above the roof. These light bars blend into the roof at about 275' away.

The CHP are also using clear LED's for the internal lights in their cars as well as their motorcycles (you don't see red and blue in the front anymore, just clear lights).

Here's an example:

Regular CHP cars are black and white, but they also utilize all-white cars as well. They claim that these are for "commercial enforcement" (as well as the Camaros), but I've seen them pulling regular cars over.

Edit: Link won't appear. Go here (http://chpcars.tripod.com/chp.html) and you'll see the all-white Crown Vic and Camaros with those special "stealth" lights.

In belgium there are alot of unmarked squad cars, they could be white volvos, Golfs, 5series, Nissans... Scary.

Once I was on the highway, nice weather, empty highway, cruising down at about 90mph... and then I realise this metallic-bordeau colored 3 series creeping up behind me... there were two slower cars that made me slow down and thus he caught up right behind me, like pretty much tailgating and provoking me to race...

I realised that they were two middleaged guys with shouldermarked blueshirts and they had a pretty straight face on them... also they had part of sign sticking out from the winshield... And since I heard stories of unmarked 3series cop cars, i immediately pulled into the right lane and slowed down... haha you should have seen the expression on their faces as they over took me...

I thought they were gonna pull me over anyways, cuz i had moved into the lane abit wrecklessly but luckily there was a riced-out civic in front and as soon as those ricers saw the bimmer race towards them they started racing, like swirving left from right hahaha and then after about 5 minutes later I see them gettin handcuffed that was so fricken hilarious, cuz I had warned them before when i let the ricer go hahaha

I've been pulled over by a Camaro cop, and two white Suburbans. They couldn't catch me with the suburbans (Sucks when you have a 99mph governor doesn't it?), so they called in the Camaro. I wasn't trying to get away, just driving fast on a long trip.

Our state troopers have unmarked Mustangs, Camaros and Firebirds, as well as Indiana. I don't see them much anymore, but maybe because they are so well disguised. They put lights/strobes under the visors now, all they do is flip the visor and hit a switch and bam it's a police car. Nice.

The Local cnty cops got the "stealth" Impalas by me. They have them in hunter green and they look like a typical mom & pop car. I saw 1 particular car with stobes in & out very well disguised. City and Cnty cops raided 1 of my neighbors houses, and a hunter green impala pulled up with strobes all over the place. When he turned them off and parked you couldn't even tell where they were placed.

I got a speeding ticket cause one of those new cars.

I saw it and thought it was just a rent-a-cop or some government agency, it didnt look anything like a CHP car..until I sped by it and saw the seal on the door, by then he had paced me and pulled me over.

sux I had to find out the hard way.
