I have an appointment with Toyota on monday for my belt tensioner TSB. Are there any other TSBs that I should be getting fixed while its there? It's not often I bring my car to the dealer since it's not convenient. So any recommendations on everything I can get fixed at once would be very helpful.
Thanks!

Read the TSB Forum section and see if you are having any issues with them.... I got my belt tensioner fixed yesterday ( when I took it in for an oil change) and didn't have any of the other issues... we'll see in future 3k mile checks.

Didn't think there was a TSB on the tensioner?

There is no TSB on the tensioner. Its from the corola. It has a TSB on the tensioner and the celicas have the same front side motor design as the corola.

Do you know if it's just the little shock looking thingy they replace, or is it the whole assembly? I need to replace mine, but I'm out of warranty and not paying anyone to do such a simple job. I just need to know what part to buy.
Thanks man.

The dealership I went to refused to fix the squeek because they said my intake (injen) is causing it. What should I do?

Take off the Ingen and go to another dealership...

well so now i hear there is no TSB for this. I made an appt on saturday for tomorrow and they said no problem, we'll see what happens tomorrow when they realize there is no TSB and my car of course won't be squealing cause I dont' think it's gonna rain tonight. I'm in good with the guys there, so I don't expect a problem. I looked through the TSB forum and really didn't see anything else I think I have a problem with.

just cause there's no TSB doesnt mean that they're not gonna fix it, or that they're not required to by law under your warranty contract.

Chris25NJ: One thing about your tensioner.... I got my fixed because it "squeaked", and it did solve the problem for a little while but now.. When ever it rains, the actual belt queaks so bad, it almost sounds like the car is going to blow up. Now I have to go get a new belt. Keep that in mind if your's starts to sqeak again.
trdazn: They pretty much have to fix it. IF a dealership wants to use the excuse that a modification is the problem than THEY have to prove it. There is no connection between the tensioner squeak and an intake. I have already been through this with a couple dealerships. And since I got mine fixed and my intake isn't stock... I think i won. Play hardball with them. nine times outta ten is you'll walk out with what you want.

Well, I went through the ordeal today. I have 37K miles exact. Toyota's warranty expires 36K. However I have an extended warranty from warrantydirect.com. Ok that said.
Of course it was a nice sunny dry day, so no squeaks. They told me there was nothing wrong with it, and since the TSB is not on the celica (only corolla) they can not fix it unless it's currently showing a problem. Keep in mind the guy who worked on my car is my friend. i got a few mods (intake), and they didn't car about that at all. Just that they couldn't go replacing something that isn't obviously wrong and billing my warranty company. If I was under the Toyota warranty they may have fixed it.
Well, they told me to bring it in when it's squeeling and they'll take a look at it. And fix it.

P.S. I should have washed my car before going to the dealer. Sometimes after washing it squeels. Oh well, I'll just have to go back.

i'm pretty sure if you're not under warranty you're going to have to pay, but not 100% positive on that. i would think they are like recalls that you don't need a warranty, but from what happened today sounds like you have to pay.

if you haggle with them about it then they'll probably bill you the warrantee repair time instaid of the charge time... it'll save you about 25% on labor

I just had this repaired last week. They told me they'd have to hear it first before they'll repair it, so I did an overnight drop off, so that they could start her up in the morning and hear it for themselves. The next day it was fixed, with no questions asked.
How long it will stay that way is what I'm wondering, after hearing people say that the squeak comes back.
