How tight is too tight when tightening the lug nuts. I took off my aftermarket rims today, and replaced it with my stock ones. I thought i tightened it real good, but when i took it out for a drive, it felt really weird, like something wasn't right, so i turned around immediately and went back on my driveway. It's dark now so i'll wait till tomorrow to check it out.
So again, how do u know when u tightened it enough? Any tips?

ur stockies could have sumtin wrong with them. Its good to tighten them real tight but not to where u can remove them with jus as lil force.

If I recall correctly, the spec for tightening lug nuts calls for 76lbft. That's the same as 76lbs of force on the end of a 1ft long wrench.
Or you could use a torque wrench to get the spec'd value. :)
EDIT: I mean Toyota specifies 76lbft for the Celica, it's not true for all cars :)
Is 76lbft torque spec just for the stock rims? I'm planning to put on my 17s and I wanna know if I have to change the torque spec. Thanks.

I believe the torque spec is related to the lug/stud size, so I'd expect aftermarket wheels to have no effect on it.

Did you tighten them in a circle pattern? Make sure you tighten 1 bolt then the one opposed to the tightened one until the 5 are done.

I thought it was a star pattern to tighten them?
Oops read post wrong...my mistake.

Probably felt different because of the rims/tires. The tires are stiffer on your aftermarket rims because of the smaller sidewall, so the ride will be stiffer, and handling will improve. Were your stock rims balanced when you took them off last?
