Im thinking of getting some tires for my 17x7 rims... the tires im looking at are a 205-40-17... I heard these will have a smaller overall time diameter than the stock 15's that i have on my GT? Thanks!

Yes. Go to www.thetirerack.com and look at the SPECS. for tires of any type in the stock size then go from there. I think it is 24.1"
