02 Celica vs 02 Eclipse GT

Well its time for me to buy a new car. I can afford either a 2002 eclipse GT or a 2002 Celica GTS. I know its kinda stupid asking which car is better on a celica website but I am doing the same on an eclipse website as well. I think both cars look equally bad azz, but I am having trouble deciding which car to go with. I plan on doing some occasional 1/4 runs at the local drag strip. Also after I buy the car I will be left with about a grand for mods. Which car would perform better with 1k in mods, and what car is better and why?

Yes I have test driven both cars. I really could not tell a difference in performance but then again I never really got to push the cars. I liked the interior of the new 02 celicas. Ive heard that the 02 celica GT-S has a reduced redline. What else have they changed and does the reduced redline affect performance at all?

Yes and Yes. The 02 Celica's have a different ECU and the rev limiter kicks in at 7800 RPM's...If you can find a new 01...go for it...use a car locator service..it will be worth it....If you are using a Credit Union..Im sure they all have locator services....good luck

That said, I've finally gotten my Celi to the point where I want it- a really awesome handler.

if you want a heavy boat that is a good highway car(not to mention a girls car compared to the old eclipses), get the eclipse...

if you want the faster, lighter, and better handler, get a 01 gts
