bahaha these old ads are hilarious. It has a tachometer wow! It also does the 1/4 mile in 17.5 seconds! Outstanding! Front disc breaks! omg! A fully synchronized transmission! WOWOW! 25 mpg? Wood grain interior trim? hahahah classic stuff.

What's more hilarious is that those 70's Celicas had more racing history and wins (non drag-racing) than the current one. They had much more aftermarket support also.

technically, the 2000GT is more related to the MR2, not the celica...

then when the supra split off from the celica, things just got confusing.

and that old celica looks like a domestic :D 17.5...that's not too shabby considering an auto celica GT of today runs only a few tenths quicker stock, and an auto matrix would probably run about that.

i'd hope so considering they've been around 30 years.
