View Full Version : Lambo Door Under 1000$??
c2gas

I would like to know if you are interested on lambo door conversation kit under 1000$.
If you are, we would try to develop one in jan(and start a GB) wich would be an autolift type, not a pull up. Also the movement of the door would be more exact than on other kits.
Looking for your comments

Ok I`m starting in jan and wish to finish it as well in jan.
Any suggestion how you like the best is welcome.
Plan is: polished stainless steel, movement side and straight up, no side moves while going up, slow autolift, and hold in up position, easy force to pull down. Simple bolt on, no custom works.

only thing i don't see happening is the "simple bolt on" hanging a door on a car isn't exactly easy if anyone has tried it...and i don't know if the hinge will hold all that force at that angle with out welding....but i'm interested in seeing if it can be done...sounds awsome.

good luck! :) but those kits aren't that easy to make (without fabrication and such, it can be done but ti'll take time and may end up costing more then 1000) Someoen tried it on the s2k and it came out weird and didnt sit flush.
Theres usually a reason those kits cost a lot, but all the more reason for you to prove em wrong, good luck!

Not to come in on your prospects but I posted this on the SoCal forum ... My friend is still trying to sell his new Lambo door kit. Someone was suppose to meet up with him last Saturday but my friend said he flaked on him. PM me and I can give you his number. He's selling it for $500.
He's located here in the OC in SoCal so you can talk to him about shipping.
Good luck

Hi guys, girls
Here are some news on the kit:
As I said we started to work out the prototype, and the firs structure is almost ready, it looks very promising. We had no difficulties yet, only one thing, that we recognised that its impossible to install the lambo kitt w/o turning the inside of the fender a bit back as it is needed on other kits as well.
If you want I can send some pics next week. BUT ONLY IF you notice this is the prototype. There are 2 more things missing from the structure, the `spring`( cos we only able to measure the force we need to set the spring when main structure is finished), and polish.
The structure is (as I said) made of stainless steel and will be polished for show results.
Pics on monday, thuesday
BTW: d3fc0n_7 I DO NOT AFFRAID TO COMPARE THIS KIT WHEN READY WITH OTHERS ( I`m to post pics and vids soon, latest all in 2 weeks, so you can do the same), but it is very easy to start a thread if you are trying to sell or produce anything. So just go ahead start your thread but dont **** in other ppls thread.
Well I`m really interested your qualty, cos I can imagine now how can a 500$ kit look like since we are involved.
d3fc0n_7
01-08-2004, 03:02 PM
No prob ... I'm not making them or anything like that. My friend bought a kit for himself but decided not to install it and he doesn't post here so I'm just helping him sell the one kit he has. I'm not too interested in having the kit for myself but I can't wait to see pics and vids of your kit.

who is honestly gonna give a warranty????
c2gas
01-12-2004, 10:14 AM
As we are the developers, we would to give the warranty, but since the distance is big between eu and states we rather make a high quality not to have any problem with it. :)
Sending the stuff for repaire or replace here would not worth for you. But trust me, we want a high quality.

Ok as far we are:
The first prototype of the frame is ready, and now we could measure what spring we need for autolift the door.
Sorry for the dirty pics, but theese are not the pics of a final product!! Also the frame is not polished and optimized.
We are planing to have the ready product the end of this month latest. No spring yet.

01-18-2004, 07:44 AM
Hy everybody!
I just want to let you know that we still working on it. The first frame of the structure was ready when I posted the pictures, but I have to say we are not at the end. It was easy to make the kit as other companies, but its not easy to make it rigid. As you know I want the doors to move as less shake as possible, and I`m still not happy with it. So we are trying to solve the problem, but that may take some time. Actually we are keeping the plan. We want to finish the prototype in jan and start the sales or a GB in febr.
So theese are the news, rather good or bad. ;)
I will inform you soon again.
Gas
BTW: the doors open as much as possible for easy access, and holds in up position for long time easy. ( the gas spring uses most of the force to lift the doors, but there is no need for big force to hold it in open position).

Ok. So prototype is ready. We are waiting for the right gas springs. The current one is undersized, so it would not lift the door. I`m promised that they are ready begining of next week.
The frame is raf now, as a prototype, so we make now the final look untill the springs arrive.
The frame is made off stainless steel, but it seems that we have to change some part for carbon steel, cos the stainless is too soft. That part would be unvisible but powdercoated. the arm would stay stainless steel.

Sorry I cant help you in install costs, that is allways a local problem. But if you have hour rates lets calculate 2 hours for installation.
I think the best deal would be for everyone to start a GB on it. For example I would keep the unit price at 1000$ but if there are 5 buyers then jump down 7% and if there are 10 buyers an other 7% again. So there could be a SERIOUS 860$ per set. THIS IS JUST EXAMPLE COS FINAL CALCYLATION WAS NOT DONE. I CAN TELL YOU EXACT PRICE IN A WEEK. AND ALSO FINAL MOVIES.
A few thing is sure, that we can do it under 1000$, and I want to give great discounts if bigger amount would be sold. Not just 10$ discounts.

Before I post new vids next week, I let you know that the springs have arrived and it works great.
Can I have a question?
Could someone take care of the GB?
It would be great to know how many kits needed.
lets count the unit price 1000$ now and I ll give you the calculation next week for 5-10-20 buyers.
PLS someone do this part for me, and I do the product side.
PS: Do you want it to autolift or just slight force to open and close? Its just the question of the spring. Both can be made.

Minor problem that the stronger spring did not arrive. So I cant make vids from the autolift, just the manual lift.

Hy PPL!
Thx for all your comments, and thx to superman starting to count interested ppl.
I`m posting now 3 more vids, but I really have to appologise you ppl cos we will have a delay. Th delay cosed of a wrong order on gas springs, it means currently we don`t have the right spring for autolift. And we really have to have a correct measured spring before we order 20 pairs for your kits. The problem is that theese springs are custom made and our suplier only pruduce them in two weeks, so we have to wait that f..g 2 weeks for f..g springs.
So here are som vids may tell you more what I mean and to see where we are.
