Just wondering. Is putting a Yamaha emblem on our cars in place of the Toyota one in the back considered rice, even though our engines were developed by Yamaha?

look to the right side of the motor, just under the valve/rocker cover. interesting....

Nope, it isn't on the engine block. It is on the cylinder head (the head is what Yamaha gets the contract for).

Yamaha is mostly owned by Toyota so this is why they used Yamaha as their engineering partner for the 2ZZ-GE, not sure about the 1ZZ though. Toyota needed a high performance, high revving engine with good horsepower to weight ratio and what better company than one they own, Yamaha, the world leader in performance motorcycles. BTW, did anyone see the comparison of the 2ZZ-GE and Integra Type-R Heads, Yamaha did a great job.

They two companies have supported each other for years, but the car is a Toyota, the engine is yamaha, hence the name is on the engine not the car :) Leave it as it is.

ok but is it rice? Its similar to what Mugen did to earlier Integras since they helped in the development of the engine.

LBC, it is only rice if YOU think so, ones mans rice is another mans nice.....atleast you have Yamaha under the hood, it's not like you are putting a 'R' sticker on a Civic DX

i like it. i'd wanna do that. could make for a conversation starter, u know what i mean? like so:
"yamaha? why yamaha"
"well, yamaha made the engine in the celica <blah blah blah, insert crap> "
and hopefully the conversation goes to
"hey u wanna go out sometime?" (to the opposite sex) :chuckles:

i wouldnt consider it rice... engine is a big part of car... yamaha something to be proud of.. i dont see why not. go for it

Young sole, watch out for rice. Rice can be called cars the are not very fast but made to look fast. Rice can be import or domestic, but the term rice comes from rice burner or a car from japan. Ricey cars have lots of stickers are lowered wrong and just plain out look bad, they also have really big exhasut tips. In short rice is slow cars made to look fast, or junky cars made to look good. here go to www.ricecop.com a read more, i don't agree with everything on there site but it will give you a good idea what commen rice is.

notice something funny about that site? about 95% of those cars in there are civics, another 4% integras, and the extra 1% is just other american cars, chevys, neons, a few eclipses but the overwhelming majority is civics ROFLMAO. (btw I know the percentages are not exactly accurate, but damn close :)
Cars like that are one reason why you will NEVER see stickers on any car I own. So ghetto, altezza lights are almost as bad as the stickers these days.....

Actually, its NOT the same because MUGEN makes and markets car parts under the MUGEN name...Yamaha does not market car parts, even though they develop heads. Honestly, i think it would be gay to see a Yamaha sticker on a celica..Yes, the head is by Yamaha but it still doesnt look right...Just think about it, wouldnt u guys think its gay to see a Yamaha sticker on a Ford Taurus SHO?( they developed that head too, for those who dont know)

I know mugen makes their own parts but they were also were involved in the development of the 1st gen integra engines. I'm not talking about mods or anything of the sort. Another example Izuzu used to make a car ( correct me if i'm wrong i think it was a Stylus. It kinda looked like the geo storm but more performance) and an co worker of mine owned one and on the side it had an emblem "lotus suspension" and the Lotus logo on it and that was part of the car when he bought it. So is that also considered wrong to have on as well?

they stylus' suspension was developed by Lotus!!

Why isn't this rice? OUR CARS WERE NOT MADE BY YAMAHA. the engines weren't either, just the head...

Do you not consider honda emblems on a ACURA integra rice? or Si stickers on an EX civic(since ex's in canada are si's)?

It shouldn't matter what other people think about your car, if it looks good in your eyes then go for it. The whole import scene wouldn't have came about if it wasn't for people wanting to do their own thing.

Altezza's are not rice. One person called them rice one day and now the whole herd is calling them rice.

For Honda emblems on an Acura I don't think it is because it shows product knowledge and it does say on the engine Honda. Si on an Ex i think so.

Ok enough about which is or is not rice but it seems like once a mod becomes common it gets a perception as being rice. What I should've said was would I be perpatrating if put a Yamaha emblem on my car?

Putting the YAMAHA badge alongside would be ok, but replacing the Toyota one is Rice. Hes not driving a yamaha is he.
