I was wondering if you could help me. When go to hit lift in first gear the engine will sort of hesitate around 6500 rpms. It's so bad that you can actually feal the car surge forward from the loss in power. When I shift into second the engine goes to red line just fine. Third and fourth are the same no problem at all. I cleaned my airfilter on my AEM CAI and it still does the same thing. When I took it to toyota the guys ran a diag on it and the VVT portion on the computer was fine. The master mechanic said that he couldn't fix it and told me to run 5w30 oil in it instead of the 10w30 I had been using. I've had my car for 2 years and been running the same oil in it ever since. Toyota said that I should change the oil and if it still did it they would call technical support and have them come down and take a ride with me. I'm just scared that there going to give me the run around and try to blame it on the intake and the 5 Ziegen cat back. Basically I was told that I don't have a problem and shouldn't be reving my car past 5000 rpms in the first place. Eventhough I only have about 50% power in first gear.

Ok, I really don't know what the problem could be... maybe the engine is chocking for some reason in first... or its a transmmission problem?? On the point of them telling you you shouldn't be revving the car over 5,000 rpm.. you should go ape **** on them immediately! This is a sign that they are not taking you seriously at all and feeding you BS across the board. Easy, grab their face and stick it into a Celica brochure.. right on the line where it talks about all the driving excitement above 6K!... Jeeze that just fumes me when these Toyota dealers do this!!!!

I think you need to stand firm on this one. I have a GT Auto and I rev the thing past 5000 rpm. If I do it, you sure as hell should be. It sounds like a transmission problem, and I severely doubt a catback or a air intake would do anything to mess it up.

I'm going to take it back down and have them schedule technical service to take a look at the car. All of this started after the replaced the belt tensioner. I just hope they didn't screw anything up while they were in there. I'll keep you guys updated. This just sucks I've finaly got my Veilside kit painted and ready to go on and this happens.

I love it when they build an engine specifically to have a second cam, and then they tell you you should never rev that high...now there is some constructive engineering.

"Yeah, we put a stereo in the car.....but God forbid....don't turn it on!"

Do you warm up your car before you pring the rpm up to 6000 cuz the calica computer does not allow the car to go above 6000 or i guess 6.5K in your case if the engine is not warmed up

I look forward to the day a Toyota employee tries to tell me something that stupid.
