So far I don't want to do to many mods to my car because it's so much better than the last one I had. I was thinking about putting in a Kenwood System with excelon speakers and maybe an amp. I know with my last car I need to get a new high performance battery
Will I need to do the same with my celica or is the factory batter good enough by itself
Thanx peeps

the system your thinking of putting in your celi is more than enought bump your ride. the stock battery should be sufficient unless your going to run several amps and speakers and other I.C.E.

Yeah so about the system....Kenwood is alright in my opinion. You may need a capacitor if you plan on playing music with the motor off. Your battery should be able to handle it, but remember its not like we have some honkin battery that is made to turn over an AMG V-8. It has its limits. Its always wise to buy a high performance or separate battery for a system if the system is nice enough to warrant that. Otherwise it could cut the life of your battery. Like they said above, a lot of amps could hurt it.

Also I recommend looking at Eclipse head units for about the same money. FAR SUPERIOR in most peoples opinions. I have worked for audio places before college, and I know the mark up on Kenwood is a lot and Eclipse is only marked up slightly. Basically you get more for your money, you're not getting ripped off. Also look at Diamond Audio components or Focal. They range from $250 - $1000 for good components. You WILL notice a difference. Amps, there are a lot to choose from. Eclipse, Diamond, PPI, Xtant. Subs, I like Diamond, eclipse, JL, etc. There are a lot of good subs nowadays. This is all really high end though. Depends on your budget and seriousness. Always sound proof stuff. It makes it so every white wanna-be gangster on the corner doesn't hear your "bumps". It also helps so your car doesn't rattle apart. And most importantly, it helps make your sound better. Hope this all helps...I am just a little biased about all of this. I really, really, really like audio. One love....

Stick with the stock battery unless you are running a lot of power. And no, a capacitor will not help the system play with the engine shut off. A capacitor is NOT a battery.

If you are looking to use different components (it doesn't look like it), you don't have to go as expensive as CACELICA suggests. It's just plain stupid to think that money makes a car audio piece better and sound better. You could EASILY have a competition car stereo for under $1000, and that includes materials.

Make some suggestions....

Oh yeah, capacitors basically store power for "bursts" of music that require extra oomph. I am sure that if I'm wrong, I will be corrected. By the way I interned in Ho-land for 4 months right after september 11th. Nice town. Close to Chicago, which is the bomb shiggidy....

Yeah, caps are for quick bursts of power. But an amp uses up the cap pretty fast. A single 1-farad cap doesn't do much when your subs are bumping really loud.

Where did you work in Holland?

I interned at Johnson Controls doing some design work for them. I go to school to design the design or "styling" of cars. I worked on some Ford stuff while there. So if cars are ugly in a few years, blame it on me. I also interned at Honda in Southern California last summer. I am a senior this year (out of 6 long years) and my teacher for the graduating semester designed the celica. Kinda cool since I own one. Needless to say he thinks I have good taste ;) I got a chance to see the beginnings of the next NSX as well. My other teacher works for Audi, the other is head of Honda. I have two housemates. One designs cars for Audi, the other designs cars for Porsche in Huntington Beach. Needless to say I am the Japanese car fan of the house. They give me A LOT of crap. The germans are rubbing off on them I think.

I used to go up to Grand Haven (I think) and New Holland Brewery a lot. I knew a couple of guys from the local car shop. Something Autosport ?!!?! I think. I don't remember. Anyways, nice town....miss it once in a while.

Yeah, I use to be a development engineer intern at JCI. I was there for 3 years, and got sick of the people. And yeah, the Holland Brewery is a nice place, but I'm not a fan of the beer.

You were a designer? Man, those guys are CRAZY!! :)

People were a little on the "stiff" side....hard to describe it but I felt a little like the movie Office Space after only 4 months there. I still keep in contact with one of the cooler guys there though.
