im going to do this soon!!! I HOPE!!! anyway...i asked around in the so cal forum but not gettin too much feedback...so im going where i belong...NOOB!!!!!!!!! lol...

ok....im deciding between trd/teins stech/hotchkis....first of all...any preferences or words of guidance with any of these springs....

then....do i need new shocks? and how long will aftermarket shocks last me?

and with adjustable shocks...does a certain setting make the shocks last longer...like does making the ride softer and more comfortable wear it out faster? hmmm...cant think of anything else right now to ask...but im sure i have more....just any info anyone can give me would be awesome...thanks all!!

TRD will drop you about 1.25," slightly stiffer ride, closest to stock. These can be used with the stock shocks/struts.

Hotchkis is just about the most aggressive you can go. Drop is a little over 2" I think. You WILL need to get new shocks with these.

I'd imagine that keeping them on a stiffer setting would wear them out faster, but nothing to worry about.

the tein s-tech's are 1'5 all around. i think they are a good buy. the only complaint i would have is that the rear still sits a bit high compared to the front. but other than that, they look nice, a subtle, yet noticeable difference from stock, and the stock shocks have been holding up for about 5 months now, with no problems. i got in on a group buy for these for $150, so it was worth it.

i plan to get some new shocks and some sways next year. :)

it's been awhile since i've had mine but i think hotchkis are 1 and 3/8" in the front and 1 and 7/8" in the back.

TEINs on stock shocks... my setup... works great, and the best part is that the TEINs don't settle, it will be a 1.4 drop from day 2 to year 2, and they also have this anti-noise thingy... if your car doesnt have many miles on it, i saw keep stock shocks...

I purchased the Eibach Pro-Kit which is an 1.2" / 1.1" drop.. It was the only springs on the market in 2000. with this drop I noticed that I needed rear cambers in order to adjust the alignment and only one company makes them which is Hotchkis. (HELLA BANK)... Anyhow I hear that the TEIN SPRINGS is a 1.4 kinda hesitant in getting...Not to sure if thats low enough for me, Im leaning towards the BG springs which are 1.75 / 1.6 drop and i'll let u know how well they ride, let me know how the TEINS ride..

So as for Eibach Pro-Kit NO GOOD...TRD Springs- NOT WORTH IT

You're the only person I've ever heard say anything bad about TRD/eibach, other than the drop not being low enough.

I have heard more good things than bad (maybe all good) about TEIN parts from our customer.
Most of them enjoy their S-TECH, well, maybe because of the price too.

I started with Eibach pro kit and stock shocks, then went to TEIN ss coilovers. I suppose it depends on what you want, but if I had to do it over again, I'd go straight to the coilovers. Can't tell you how much of a difference they make performance wise and it's nice to know that you can always adjust the height in case you decide to try something new with your ride. Anyway, eibach's were cool, but your stock shocks do wear out quicker. Also, the rear camber is dependent on ride height I think, so anything lower than the Eibach's will only make the camber problem worse. Something to watch with after market rims is after straightening the wheels via the hotchkis cambers is that your wheels may rub on the fender (obviously depends on the rim and tire, I have 19's and had to leave my tires tilted just a bit so they don't rub.)

how long are coilovers supposed to last?
