if you want a powerful car, look elsewhere.
im asking this cuz i know a guy that says he has a 400+ hp celica gts w/ the stock motor. he supposedly beat a zo6 and supra and took a sti and a modded awd dsm off the line.
i think he's full of it though...but i dont know much about 00 celicas. what do u guys think?

I don't know of anybody with a celica gts with 400+ hp, not even sure it's possible right now.

If your main concern is going fast in a straight line, consider something else.
If you want something with superior OEM handling capabilities, styling ahead of its time, reliability, etc. etc. then the Celica could be for you

He is probably just talking out his ass. The mods it would take to get 400 hp out of the 2zz don't exist.

im sure its possible....contrary to what most of the people on this board would think. If you came here lookin for fans of the celica, look elsewhere..... :chuckles:.....it is possible to get 400 crank HP out of the celica but your gonna spend a pretty dime to get there. And if you learn to drive her well enough you could get decent straight line speed. i mean we have people knockin a half second off their 1/4s with just intake and exhaust!!!....but as far as aftermarket support we have valvetrain items (except cams), pistons, rods, crank, oil pumps, oil coolers, all types of suspension, intakes, exhausts, computer, headers, transmission gears, lsds, transmission FDs, grounding kits, pulleys, turbos, superchargers, and brakes....with enough elbow grease and money you could easily build a 400HP celica either by N/A or F/I

He's got what 500 horses? Something like that. Either way he resold that car for 100,000 bucks. He made it all wheel drive and added other stuff.

It didn't have a 1zz or a 2zz motor.

yep the "ultimate celica" was not a 7th gen drivetrain, it was a 6th gen with a 7th gen body.....

Celica's potential lies in an AutoX course or in a room with showcars.
Not in a straight line.

400 HP GTS would be an unnecessary waste of money. when there are other cars that wil get there for less. Can it be done? IM sure it CAN be. BUT I dont think anyone can under 100,000 bucks.
