OK for those who have been talking about relative car performance here's a few figures I've knocked up using Car Test. I've tried to be as accurate a possible getting varified figures from the net. For example I weighed my Sports M and added my weight.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/pbec2f0eda3143f881204dd12eb3ef3ec/fa0ed616.jpg

Lotus list the Elise 190 0-60 as 4.9 secs and approx 13s for the 1/4. I've recorded 6.2 0-60 and 14.8 1/4 mile from my Sports M in damp conditions (G-Tech Pro). Some more figures from www.edmund.com show 0-60, 1/4 mile of 6.7, 15.2 for the RSX S and 6.9, 15.4 for the GTS (190). Showing Car Test's accuracy if you get the figures correct.

you have a sports m? you lucky punk!!

whats the difference between the sports m and the celica 190? i know the sports m has the lsd but it also has 10hp? where does that come from?

oh yeah! wanna use your vin number to order me some m sport parts? :naughty:

The Sports M has a light flywheel, TRD header, TRD exhaust, TRD panel filter and platinum plugs to make up the extra 10HP and 6 lbs ft of torque.

So anyone interested at all at the results? That's pretty fugging accurate for a software simulation if you ask me. I've been using it for a while and you do need to get a lot of accurate data to get comparable figures.

From using the software I've worked out I will need to loose 100 kgs (seats, wheels, hood, AC etc) to get to the sort of performance from my Sports M to keep me interested. An MR2 with 190 would be good but still lagging behind a factory federal Elise. So I'll probaby end up back in a Lotus.

I suppose I could rip the Blitz supercharger from my Sports M, stuff it in the Elise and scare myself silly!

:werd: or you can build up the 2zzge in your celica, for a bad @$$ NA motor, and than just plop it into a elise. thats what i plan to do or hopefully do someday........

Yep you're right as Lotus have always stuck with an NA engine.

You guys seen the VX220 based on the Elise? That comes with a 2.0L turbo as standard. Another great car soon to be discontiued.

IMO the figures for the MR2 190 are not very accurate. Does the program account for different engine layouts? How about drag???

Also what weight did you use on the MR2 and the elise?

The elise should be about 70kg lighter than a MR2 190.

Yep the simulation requires the engine location, engine type and driven wheels. Compression ratio, drag factor, car mass, mass distribution, gear ratios, dimensions, ground clearance, wheel/tyre dimensions. Power @ RPM, Torque @ RPM and stuff like that.

I used 895 kg (1975 lbs) as quoted by lotus i.e. less than 2000 lbs

I used 995 kg for the MR2 (2193 lbs) as quoted on the Toyota website. I should add 13 kg to the MR2 as that's how much heavier the 2ZZGE is than the 1ZZGE but thats getting picky!

I finally added my weight to each of 187 lbs.

I've adjusted the Elise figures above cus I forgot to add my weight so I'll still stick by these figures as a real world guesstimate.

If you've got varified figures though on an MR2 190 conversion (is it lightened?) then I'm very happy to be wrong cus I was probably going for a federal Elise but would like to stick with a Toyota really.

Justin where did you get the figures for the 190 thought the 0-62 were 7.4 prefacelift and 7.2 facelift. Someone was using the powerflow fc and got 6.8 think it was Jerry.

Edit:- That TRD sports M you have got sounds very nice.

I used to love that program. It gave me a good idea of how much power Id need to reach my goals.

Umm, regular Celica's use Iridium plugs, why would they downgrade to Platinum plugs on the Sports M?

I didn't check the exact makeup of the plugs but they are TRD branded so whatever they put in as an upgrade.

Seven-of-nine

I just did a search for reviews on the net and www.edmund.com had 6.9 secs I just went with those. 7.4 always seemed slow for the power and weight to me. Then again you probably have to murder the clutch to get below 7!

I also went out and tested my neighbours Lotus Elise Sport160 and we got 5.3 secs to 60 on my G-Tech Pro which agreed with Car Test

The VX220 maybe be going, but the Lightning that'll reaplce it sounds good, 2.2L SC 240bhp. And it actually LOOKS good for a Vauxhall. The VX was too kit car looking/cut down for my tastes.

I've used a G-Tech pro comp on my standard Celica T Sport (190 BHP) and i can get 6.6sec 0 - 60 everytime with 6 inch rollout..

I could only ever like the VX220 in black so never really considered it in the end.

The factory figure for the Sport 160 is 4.9 secs 0-60 so I thought the G-Tech Pro figure of 5.3 was pretty realistic as we didn't want to fry the clutch to prove a bit of software!

With regards to the MR2 with 2ZZ.

Mine weighed 980kg with 2ZZ/6MT, Full interior with 2 extra heavy rubber carpets, flex plate, super heavy custom exhaust(weighed even more than the stock MR2 exhaust) and with half tank of fuel.

It had no spare and tools though(Elise does not have these too).

With some weight reductions like taking out the extra carpets and putting in a light battery and decent exhaust system I am sure I can take out at least 20kg without touching the interior.

960kg is great IMO in a fully loaded car. Then if you want you can change the seats which are very heavy, rear plastics/heatshields. CF front and rear hoods, take out the airbags and you are very near the 900kg mark.

As an example the new Ti exhaust I have weighs 3.5kg. The old custom exhaust weighed about 17kg.

Thanks CIN,

Exactly the sort of feedback I needed. Yep I've seen 905kgs quoted for a stripped MRS.

I'm now investigating the possibilty of the 3SGE (dual) VVTi BEAMS engine to go in to an MRS.

205 BHP @ 7600
159 lbs ft @ 6400
11.5:1 compression

Anyone know the weight of this engine? Turboing would be an option but diffucult in the confines of the MRS maybe the JUN 2.2L stroker kit would be better.

I'm guessing getting the engine will be the biggest problem for me!
