Lately ive been thinking that the grill on my trd bumber is dull looking so im gonna spray it with a hi-gloss black, and maybe it might stand out. has anyone done this and i was also considering doing it gun metal. due to the fact that this is a relatively cheap mod like $2.50 for spray paint i might change it up.

when i had the action package..i painted the grills red..then changed it to white..my car is black..soo the white really stood out..looked real nice..for a silver car..i say keep it black..but a gloss black would look niice..stand out more..

It's gonna chip off. You need something stronger than regular paint. Try POR 15. I used the stuff on my brake rotors, and it took a couple of hours to wear off the inner part of the rotor surface, and about a month for the outer edge. Normal spray paint would wear off with the 1st or 2nd use of the brakes.

Metal Mask (very close to lighter gunmetal)

BTW, gunmetal gets dirty really quick and looks just like black after a while.

well if u put that on ur rotors im sure it would come off because the brake pads would surely scuff them up, but im talking about my grill.

that's the point, if the paint can hold on the rotors for up to a month, then it can hold for a lifetime on something like a grill.

o ok, but i think if i just let it sit for a while it should be good considering that its just a grill

I tried spraying mine once. The finish didn't hold up well at all. If you really wanted them to look nice, take them to a place that does powdercoating and media blasting. Have them blasted, then powdercoated high gloss black. Personally, I prefer a satin black look. I had mine redone by a body shop in satin black and they look nice.

POR 15 is just as strong as powdercoating once it's fully cured.

is it possible to get a plastic grill powder coated or will it get all messed up?

would powder coating be worth the trouble and money? does it make a significant visual difference

I just painted my Grills Craft grill tonight. I'll take pictures when i get a chance...I think it will be nice to go from silver to a nice gloss black.
