Mags have been getting around 15.7 in the 1/4 and low-mid 7s 0-60. Which is about as good as I think you can get in that car. Kind of impressive since they could barely get those numbers from a car that is 300lbs ligher with smaller wheels, a couple of years ago (that would be the Celica if you were wondering)
I thikn the price should be around $20,000 for the XRS, of course depending on options, you could get closer to $22,000. It will be hard in the first few months to get below MSRP.
The car is good looking, practical, relatively inexpensive, but I don't think I would ever get one. Aside from using the wrong engine, it still feels like a ****ing SUV or truck when you sit in it. The steering is at what seems like a 30

I like how they look. But personally, I'd rather have an engine with a bit more torque in a sports wagon.

i saw a loaded XRS 6-speed for $19k and some change at my dealer. a fully loaded XR auto cost almost as much (the body kit didn't come standard and ABS also cost money, etc.).
it's definitely a few grand cheaper than a GTS.
and the XRS has plenty of torque and pull...of course you have to hit 6000rpm to get it, but it's there :D i think that say something about toyota's confidence in the 2ZZ-GE holding up to stress from younger drivers (i.e, hitting lift a lot).

I like the new Matrix XRS 6speed with the body kit from TRD. When it's time to replace our SUV, it's what we're going to get. With the Matrix platform using the same drivetrain, it can only provide us with more performance parts for our Celis. L8r

Very nice car, a while back I was asking about the Celica GTS but had to opt for the cheaper car (about 8K cheaper here in Canada) from 40K (on the road) to the XRS which was 32K.
Since the engine and tranny are the same (manual 6 speed) I figure if I can't get the celica, I'd get the next best thing.
BTW for your manual celica drivers:
Since I'm a newbie at driving manual, can someone give me tips on how to drive without stalling on red light startups? I tend to ride my clutch when it's yellow and "creep" up but I get the feeling I'm burning my clutch. I'd hate to have to replace the clutch at 10K Kms!
I think with a few mods the XRS can easily contend against another celica (fairly stock). Its a nice ride for the price.

if your having trouble killing the car at stops
then jsut rev it to about 2K and slowly let out the clutch
later you will figure out how to drive better :)
