has anyone ever heard of anybody mis-shifting with an auto gt-s? say you are in 3rd gear, but instead of pressing the "up" button, you accidentally press the "down" button...it's possible right?

Nope, not possible. The computer knows that the downshift would put you into redline, so it will not allow you to do so. What it does do is "beep" at you. I only tried it once after someone told me about it. :) It worked. No downshift -- just a warning beep.

i did it once, had to slam to a stop from 90mph to avoid an intersection, i was on the brakes and tapping downshift like crazy and heard a bunch of beeps.
also a few times my friends drove the car, and would just start tapping away and getting beeps. haha thank god i didn't let them drive a manual.

yeah..u couldnt misshift even if u paid it to... the beep sounds should go off... probably thats the only best thing of an auto.. no blowing up ur engine from that =)

the revs wouldnt go to redline but still freaked me out!

Huh? After a misshift your car won't start up. I'm not sure what happened to your car, but from what I read after a misshift, your valves are bent and the pistons are gone.
I'm not sure about your car, but on mine, it won't let you downshift if you're passed the 7K rpm range.

Mine wont either...maybe it was just a bad downshift
