What is that sound

I have a Celica GT, could somebody tell me what the HELL is this sound. The engine sounds like a damn Disel engine. It dosn't get in performence way, but sometimes it gets a little annoyng.
Any help or info would be great.

I couldn't tell you what that sound is I have the same sound if it was a GT-S I would say its probably the Belt Tensioner but that doesn't seem to be it on the GT and I think everyone has that darn sound

That noise you hear is coming from the cylindar head, the valvetrain is really noisy on this engine. If it really annoy's you, maybe you could try dynamating the underside of the hood. That should stop that noise from getting out of the engine bay.

Aaaahhhh, I don't think turning up my radio is gonna let me forget it. A friend of mine has a GT-S and the car has a funny rattle noise somewhere on the engine but it dosn't sound like MY DIESEL engine. Still I will check that Belt Tensioner ,,,, thanks.

Maybe you have a hole in your exhaust pipe somewhere.

I never thouht about the exaust pipe having a hole, interesting. I'm gonna check it out.... THANKS

If it sounds like a small rattling sound around the drive belt area...then it could be your timing belt tensioner. I have had that happened and it bites. It should be covered under warranty if you are within 36000 miles or 36 mos. Suggestion...get it looked at asap.
