Do You Let Others Drive Your Celica?

Tonight was the first time anyone other than myself has driven my car. My lady friend (also was my Valentine) wanted to drive my car on the way back from dinner. And she always wanted to drive my car for a long time. So I finally gave in and gave her the keys. It felt weird being in the passenger seat.


After I dropped her off and had my racing encounters (see the thread on the Mustang, Carrera, and S-10), we IMed each other. She asked me what I thought of her driving. She must have studied my car well because she drove it as if she owned it! I mean, she just totally took over my car!!! She put the moonroof back, changed the radio to KIIS (yuck), and drove one handed with the other on the e-brake - just like me! She was afraid that if she put her hand on the transmission she would accidentally shift it.

She told me afterwards that she's fallen in love with my car (as opposed to me...j/k) and that it drives really smooth and with ease. Of course she was driving it like a baby, unlike the majority of us here. She drives a Jetta, BTW.

I have the feeling this won't be the last time she drives my car either...


So guys, do you let others drive your car and if so who?

well.. i only let two people drive it so far... my hot winterball date cuz well...shes hot.. and owns a bmw so i know she has the money to back it up.. and my cousin who owns 02 330ci convertible so i know he has the money to back it up... besides them.. i dont even let my mom and dad touch my car =)

I've only let one other person EVER drive my car. My dad had to drive it once because I blew out my knee and he had to get the car back from the park to the house. I know he can drive any damn stick cause he's got a 87 930 and a 02 turbo (Porsches) both manual. Plus he accidentely scratched the **** out of my hood once and paid get it totally repainted so I know he'd fix whatever he might break.

edit: Plus he lets me drive his cars so I figure why not let him drive mine?

only time i mainly let anyone else drive is when im looking for a DD, i figure i'd have more of a chance at messing it up than them

first of all rule #1 NO ONE OTHER THAN THE OWNER DRIVES THE CELI!! :) the only person that has driven my car was the mechanic that had to drive it on the lift to check out something underneath.

I HATE having other people drive my car...my dad has driven it just cuz without him i wouldn't own it...a couple of my friends have driven it in lots, one of which overrevved the snot out of it so i kicked his ass...and the other one drove it pretty nicely. I've seen oil changers and Valets stall my car twice before and i wanted to kick both of their asses.

I dont like letting other people drive my car, but i dont want to jack it up because I am being a dumbass or something, so I do have one buddy that I let drive it. The only time i let my friend drive my car is when I am high :)

I've had the car 1.5 years and I can count on my fingers the # of times that my wife has driven it. Other than her no one.

I let my fiancee drive my Type R when she wants to. That's been all of twice. I have a feeling that frequency will increase after we get married. It is strange being in the passenger seat, but she's a very good driver, and she drives a manual transmission everyday. It's funny to see the looks a 6' blonde gets in a Type R. :D Lot of Civic driving high school kids staring.

I have let my dad, sister, about 3 friends, a girl i am dating, drive my car. The only ones that couldn't drive it were ^ and my sister.
Everyone was impressed in the way that it handles, my dad did however SCARE THE HELL OUT OF ME (poor celi), he used to race back in the day and i guess he still remembers how cause scaring me in a car i have driven is something to be proud of....HE completly RAPED my car....

i had never ever ever let anybody drive my car with the exception of three valet drivers (which ended when i found dirt on the passeneger side when i got my car back!). i have yet to let my dad or any other family member drive my car because i'm afraid they won't adjust as quick to the blind spots.

since those incidents, i've only let one boy drive my car (twice), and it was only because he drives a celi too so i know he can drive it. but it feels too wierd in the passenger seat so i think that's gonna stop.

i let my mother drive my celica, she had a hard time finding the right gears. ex 1st to 4th instead of 1st to 2nd. plus when she did get it down, the lift scared her and she pulled over. no one else but me has driven it...

I don't let nobody drive my car. I have the 6 speed and most people I know don't drive manual and I am paranoid of them misshifting it.

But I let my friend drive it once, we were going from s.f. back to l.a. and i was dead tired and we had 400 miles to drive, so he got to drive it, but I shifted the gears for him as we were getting on the highway. I'd tell him to push the clutch and i'd shift, and repeated that.

i let a few of my friends drive it, i only let those who i feel are compitent(spelling) enough to drive it

I let my best friend drive it in a mall parking lot, just to get a feel for the car. I'm glad I had my seatbelt on. Can you say whiplash city? :eek: She does know the basics of driving stick, but she had lots of trouble with the clutch. People were giving us weird looks, too. Go figure. :rolleyes:

I've only let 2 people drive my celica. One is my brother, who I would trust with anything I own. and the 2nd was actually about 2 weeks ago I went to the bar with some old friends and got real ****faced, so I let him drive us home. He really impressed me with how he drove it, It was like he had owned the car not me. I would trust him to drive it again i guess, but other than that, someone is gonna have to knock me out and take the keys from me :)

Well...yeah...I AM interested in her...and she was my Valentine as well. BTW she loved my car so much she insisted on driving it again tonight! Not to mention she's making me wash HER car this weekend (her excuse is she wants to see how I wash my car and try it with hers).

My friends are very hesitant to drive my car even after they drove it once because they are not used to driving a 6 speed and the close gates.

I let lots of people drive my car. My mom, dad and brother have all driven it (although my mom doesn't like to because she doesn't want to worry about screwing up the car). My best friend has driven it numerous times. Two guys at the body shop. Numerous dealer people. And the guy who drove the car when I got it, since it came from about 200 miles away. And yes my car is a 6-speed.

I've scared my mom and my brothers to the death about even touching my car wrong.. so they wouldn't even think of driving my car.. cause if something even happened to my car.. all hell would break loose.

Anyways.. I would only let my boyfriend drive my car (if I trusted him of course, which I do).. and Stacy.. and maybe a couple of my celica friends.. since I know they have the same love and care for their cars as they would mine too.

Hmm. when i went home about a month ago i had my mom drive it, so funny, her dirving a car 3 inches off the floor. i was afraid she scrath the wheels.........Ah my buddy dru i let him drive it twice, my other roommate has driven her once. my gf, i always try to get her to drive shes afraid of manuals. and my other freind back home will has driven her. las time i went home i threw him the keys to go back to my house and take a crap.............unsupervised with my bro, and my bro drove on the way back to where i was........taco bell.... hehe. i only let close freinds drive it, they all responsible................no one else has driven her really........besides tech's...............

I let my girl, her sister(cause she's real hot... i know that bad huh?) my mom & dad, and my brother. I let my brother drive my car for a day while i took out his Impreza WRX, so it wasnt that bad... but besides that... you betta get ya own!!!

Well for the first year i had my celica no one was allowed to drive it. I only let my dad drive it like once or twice and it was just down the street. But now i let my BF drive it a lot.. he's good with it and i trust that if he broke something he'd pay to repair it.. plus he'll be letting me drive his nice 79' toy 4x4 when its finished :) I also let other people in my team drive my car.. they all own celica's or have owned a celica so i know they are good with it. Other then that i won't let anyone else drive it.

Well I let this girl who i'm friends with because she is really hot and she let me drive her car a Cav 5 speed, which to most may not seem like a big deal but it was my first time driving a manual car. Also my parents don't touch my car, but i woulnd mind getting it totaled my somebody else, i would buy a 6 speed then.

I say ill teach her (that gives me bs time) but i dont think i ever will ..... when she says can i drive im like shure ... but i go right to the driver side like i completely didnt hear it ... so when she give me a look like wtf .. im like you can drive on the way back. She then usally forgets then LOL.
